Breaching the castle walls Nov. 26, TAVH, A&P repair, ovary removal (Both)

Hello to my hyster sisters.
I am a 48 year old single mom....2 kids in college and a junior in high school. I am having TAVH with A&P repair, I have cysts on my ovaries (which will be both removed), and have a hernia beneath my bladder (what in the heck does that mean?)
Anyone else having or has had extensive work such as what I'm having? It seems I also have varicose veins all tied up in there. No mention of fibroids or endometriosis. I am a bit nervous about the surgery, but the wonderful posts on this site have dispelled my fears...thank you all.
What I'd like to know, in my A&P repair, will my dr. be performing what I've heard as the "love stitch"? I have been divorced for 5 years, but hope one day to get married again, and would like to experience the tight, well you know....for my husband to be sake. I'm sure that is years off as I have one more daughter to raise and get off to college. The nice thing is that by the time that happens and I find someone special, I will be all healed and hopefully have some desire back.

I am a little nervous, but I am ready to get it done! I will be staying at my mom and dad's house for a week and then back home with my daughter who will be in school all day! I do believe friends from church will be helping me out....

I wasn't sure what I need to do to get a reply on here. I know everyone's busy, but sure would love to here from someone. It's a lonely feeling waiting for surgery!

I'm having the same surgery as you...and on the same day! I've never heard of the "love stitch", but it sounds like something that my DH would be fond of. Maybe I'll mention it to my DR. when they infuse me with the wonderful "happy juice" that everyone talks about.

Hey Jazzibell - I had the same surgery as you - TVH, bladder hernia repair, rectal hernia repair and bladder sling - My doc said she tightened everything up - it will be like I never had kids! She said I am all brand new down there, and some of her patients call it their revirgination.

Does that answer your question? You should ask your doc, but I believe that most of them, when doing a vaginal hysterectomy and repairs, will tighten things up and you will be pre-child bearing years down there.

Thank you for your reply! You don't have long to wait, just another week and a few days! I don't think my dr. has mentioned anything about my appendix, but while he's in there, I guess he might as well take it too!
With Thanksgiving this week, I think I will be staying pretty busy, and getting a little Christmas shopping in. Plus my daughter's birthday is Nov. 25, and my son's is Dec. 20, so I will have to think about what I'm going to get them too!

I like your name. Yes, ask about the love stitch, and like Sandy says, I think with the procedures we are having done, it will be tightened up automatically. They say the DH's love it (blush), but I guess I will have a while before I can find that out! Wow, the 26th is just a few days off. How are you feeling?

Thanks for your reply! You had the same things I am having done, except for I am having it done through abdomen. Tell me how things went with you, especially your recovery. Revirgination...never heard that term, but it is kinda cool to think about.

I am having a TAH/BSO done on November 26, as well. I have endo, adeno, cysts, and varicose veins on my ovaries. We'll be doing this together!

My kids' birthdays are Dec. 9, Jan 8, and Feb. 18. With Christmas and my anniversary thrown in there on Jan. 4th, I'm going to be doing a lot of online shopping! I am going Black Friday shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. Hopefully, I'll get it done. We're going to be pretty mellow in the gift area, as always, for Christmas.

The day is almost here!

Thanks so much for your reply! Nov. 26 will be a wonderful day for us! I also have varicose veins...I guess they're on my ovaries, not sure. We can do this, and we'll feel so much better afterward. Please email when you get home from the castle so we can check on each other's progress!
Hey, I know exactly how you feel about the shopping. My daughters and I went out today and did a little shopping! I don't want to go out on Black Friday. I am going to be staying in until Monday...I'm afraid of getting sick.
Guess what...my kids birthdays are November 25 (day before surgery), Dec. 20, and February 6. Isn't that great...we have that in common. Isn't it difficult to have to buy birthday AND Christmas presents all at the same time!
I will be doing online shopping, and because of the surgery will have to be very frugal this year. I have 2 in college, so they may actually be getting gift cards and money.
