Kidney Stone Question

I am very prone to kidney stones. I actually have 3-4 right now. They are in my kidneys and I have been told they may never move. I heard that the IV fluids can make you more prone to pass them. OMG~ Has anyone else ever heard this or had this happen? How can I deal with a kidney stone and the pain of my hyst.

Kidney Stone Question

I passed a kidney stone once ( a long time ago ) and it was very painful. I didn't have any problems with them at the time of my hyst.
But, I think that since you'll already be on pain meds for the hyst, that should help if you do have any issues with the kidney stones.

Have you asked your dr about it? That might be a good idea.

Kidney Stone Question

I have also had kidney stone problems in the past. The treatment that I was given for them was IV fluids and pain meds.Since you will be on pain meds in the hospital along with the fluids you will be in the right place if you do pass one.Be sure to tell your doc that you have the stones though they might want to collect the stones if you pass them so they can tell what kind they are and what caused them.

Kidney Stone Question

And I wanted to add... if they do become a problem while you're in the hospital, you're in the right place! They can medicate you appropriately, and if they need to use ultrasound to break them down, you're right there!

Me, too!

I had a TAH/BSO about 5 and a half weeks ago. I, also, am very prone to kidney stones. I have even had lithotripsy for them. When I had my surgery I, too, had 3 or 4 in my left kidney which I have been told probably won't move. (They think they are leftover"sludge" from the lithotripsy.) I had no problems with them while receiving IV fluids or since I've been home. Like everyone else here says...if you do have a problem you will be in the right place! s to you and I will pray everything goes well.

Kidney Stone Question

Thanks for all the responses. Hopefully the stones will stay where they are but like you said if they do move I will be in the right place. Thanks again.
