Continued Pain

Well, its been 16 days (still having pain) since my gallbladder surg (lap), 12 weeks port-op from TVH.
I had gone back to work on 12th day after gallbladder surg, (I only missed 6 days of work, including fri. off, weekends and 4 July off.)I had worked it out with boss and his wife to work 1/2 days on Mon/Tue if needed. That worked out good.

I came home, at 2 PM. DH threw a fit (I mean flipped out) that I came home from work early. He told me he thought I should be fired for not being at work and my work ethics are horriable. He tried to tell me that I have been missing too much work. Duh, two major surgs in 2mos. He tried to tell me that I am addicted to my pain meds, Vicoden, Tylox. Boy, that makes alot of sense, I still have 3 Vicoden, and 4 Tylox left over from before & after gallbladder surg. Now, if I was addicted....I wouldn't have any pain pills in the house, right??

I was very upset, crying and screaming back at him for his bad treatment of me & his attitude. I was so mad and hurt by the whole outburst. Then he asks me if I am still taking RX of Prozac.(like I am doing all this on purpose, I didn't start the arugument. I just came home to lay down & relax. Like the whole thing was my fault for having surgs and not being able to work. Later that night, while he was at work, he called me to say, he was sorry and that he still loved me. That's something for him, cause he never says he is sorry.

Tue, I stayed at work, until 4 PM, I wasn't coming home to DH's crap again, well that night I paid for it. Took Tylox & Flexerial to help with pain. Wed. I did the same thing again. Told my boss how I was feeling from yesterday. I left at 3 PM. Wed nite was my worse night. Tried to call Dr Thurs AM, he wasn't in and his nurse wasn't returning any pages. Called first thing Fri AM, finally was told to come right in after explaining what was going on.

I spent 8 hrs at the hospital with my Dr, he found the area's of pain, tenderness right away. He ordered tests, to be re-run of Blood work, Ultrasound, (US Dr said, there was too much inflammation in the area of where the gallbladder was) & HIDA SCAN-looking for possiable leakage in the bile duct. After all that, 3 different Drs. Thank God, test come back normal. Called DH from US room letting him know that I was going to be ther most of the day. He said, he would come down to be with me, if I really needed him. But, he didn't want to come down, just sit and wait. He would come down if they were going to do anything to me other then tests.

Yes, I am still having pain, in the area. Dr. know it's real pain. But, now they are sending me Endoscopy surg to look for stomach, intestinal ulcer?? Dr. gave me RX for Prolosec (ulcer med) & tyleonl 3 with codeine. I have call for appt on Mon. as soon as I can. I am at my wits ends with all of this. And have been going thur all this junk since April's TVH surg. I just want to be well and pain free again. I am tired of being tired, run down and not myself. I know all you ladies understand all the frustration and moods of all of this. Thanks for listening.

Re: Continued Pain

You have not allowed yourself to heal. As working women, we think that we have to do it all, be super women. Well forget that. If you do not take care of yourself now. You could have other problems later. Your husband is being a big baby. Unfortunately, some men do not respond well to us when we are not "normal". I think he is being a jerk. But maybe he has always been this way. You have to put your health and yourself first. REST!!! I will continue to think of you. I am having my hyst on 07/24.

Continued Pain

{{Barbara}},
I am so sorry you are still in pain Hopefully these tests will show what is causing it! Dont feel guilty for needing painkillers, they help me get through the day, otherwise I would be laid up in the bed all day There is a difference in addiction vs dependency! A lot of good stuff is out there on the net to back this theory, mayby your DH could benefit from reading some of it. You will be in my prayers and please let us know how they turn out.
Here is a great starting point:

Support for you

Dear Barbara,
You sure have been though a lot. I am sorry for all of your problems and pain. It doesn't help when your husband isn't treating well. That adds to the stress and the stress can hinder your recovery. I had an ex like that and that is why he is the ex. But, when you are not healthy is not the time to try to totally solve relationship issues. You need to think of yourself first and get well. Fortunately my husband now has been an angel to me through all of my problems. If not for him and the wonderful sisters here I would not be able to function at all. I will keep you in my prayers.
Love,Light, Blessings

I UNDERSTAND

Hi Barbara,
I too know how you feel. My husband thinks that I am sex machine and though he tries to understand what I am going through if I act like I am feeling even a little better he thinks it's time for loving (ha). I can't remeber the last time I truly enjoyed making love. I mean I know 9 out of 10times I am going to be in pain afterwards so I spend most the time during dreading the pain to come while he sleeps soundly. As for me I am currently not working because of all the surgies that I already had and but I am considering going back to school in this fall. Half a days Mon. Wed. and Fri. and thankfully my kids have been at their grandparents all summer ( even though I miss them terribly and want them to come home). At least you found a Dr. who seems to care. I am still searching. Well I better get going dinner won't cook itself.

You friend and sister,
Maya

Endoscopy is a breeze!

Hi Barbara!

Just know your endoscopy will be a breeze compared to the gall bladder surgery which was probably a breeze compared to your TVH. I had gallbladder surgery in 1998, and I had a no pain for about a year, and then since 1999, I've had a lot of abdominal pain. I just found out, however, that it's mostly been caused by medication I was taking (Prevacid). Prilosec is the best acid reflux medication, but it can have the side effect of abdominal pain, though I don't have ab pain with it!?!? Make sure your Dr checks your meds for side effects for ab pain!

Hang in there. I had an endoscopy in 1999, and I didn't remember a thing about it!

Good luck, and God bless!

Tracie
