I used arnica when I had facial surgery. It did help w/bruising but didn't do much for the swelling. Did you OK with your doctor? Recent news about taking herbal stuff pre-surgery.

I'm 7/19 -- good luck to you!

Hi vivienne, it is very important to discuss taking any medicine at all before your hyster, with your DR . There is an information post at the top of pre op postings re herbs. Best of luck with your surgery x x

Hi...

Please check with your doctor regarding ANY herbs or over the counter remedies. Not the pharmacist. Taking any supplements without the specific permission of your doctor can get your surgery postponed...PLEASE talk with your doctor before you take ANYTHING!!!

It's hard enough to wait for the day, without having to go through the stress of having surgery cancelled because of something you took!!

Big hugs to you...

Karen

Hi Ladies,

Another urge to ask your Dr what you can and can't take, It may react with something that they will be using during surgery. It's hard waiting for the day to come than having to postpone it because of Possible interactions with meds would be the pits. :burning:

Arnica

Hi from a fellow Vivienne! My surgery was on 7 July and I'm now home and feeling great. I took arnica (30c 3 times per day) for 5 days beforehand and will continue for 2 weeks. I have hardly any bruising and virtually no swelling at all, which I'm sure is down to the arnica, as when I had previous surgery without using it things looked and felt very different down there indeed.

I did consult my doctor before I started taking the arnica and also made sure all of the nursing staff at the hospital were aware that I was using it and would advise you to do likewise.

Best of luck with your surgery - it's true what they say - the worst bit is the anticipation.
