Questions 4 wks after surgery

I have my 6wk post-op exam on 12/11...
At my 2wk check-up (chit-chat), doc told me to expect some bright red spotting, and brownish lumpy stuff, indicating internal stitches dissolving.

My discharge was light, pink to beige for the first 2-3 weeks, one instance of bright red (after walking up stairs to my office - not doing that anymore!), but nothing like what he described for stitches dissolving.

I don't know what to make of that. I have one stitch on one lap scar that is partially external, and it hasn't dissolved. I am not having any discharge to speak of anymore. I don't have any real pain anymore, just the occasional discomfort/pressure at various points, depending on how I move.

So would this mean things are healing okay? Everything that I read about granulation says it causes bleeding. I thought that maybe the scar tissue is covering the stitches, keeping them from coming out. I dunno... call it a blonde moment.

Any ideas, anyone? Or should I just be patient (NOT!) and wait 'til the 11th?
TIA!

Questions 4 wks after surgery

I was 3 week Wed and I have never spotted anything at all.
I also don't go back to doc till Jan 8 which wil be 7 weeks do to xmas.
I was told at hospital though if saw any bleeding to call right away.
I hope my healing is as good inside as out. All is going great and never take pain pills now at all. I had more pain from a filling I got Tuesday then I have had in 2 weeks. I do though take ibuprofin occasionally for swelling.

I am just guessing we are the lucky ones and healled great

Questions 4 wks after surgery

I had my 4 week checkup this week. Doc said it takes up to 12 weeks for the stitches to fully dissolve and to expect light discharge until then. So unless you are having bright red discharge I would just be patient and wait until your appt.

Questions 4 wks after surgery

I had 5 week check on Wednesday. Granulation tissue-silver nitrate. I had not had any "red" discharge until then. Today has been more than the last 2 days. Up until he cauterized with silver nitrate I had only had a yellow discharge, but I had seen stitches come out when I wiped. I guess I am suppposed to be having the bloody discharge since he disturbed the scar.

Questions 4 wks after surgery

I'm five weeks out and have seen no signs of disolving stitches. My doc is on vacation this week so my six week check up is scheduled for the seventh actual week. My abd incision healed just fine other than one stitch on the left side. A small pimple seems to have encased that stitch. It isn't infected, I'm not running a fever...

I'm just ready to go back to normal. Whatever passes for normal now.

Questions 4 wks after surgery

My doc did not tell me to expect any discharge or stitch stuff. So far I've had no discharge or stitch debris since I left the hospital and am wondering if I will. I've never had any vaginal pain or bloody/brown discharge. Things seem to be very normal for me and I'm thrilled.

Is this common for your procedure (LAVH)? I had TAH/BSO and am on HRT (Hist on OCT 31). Maybe these different procedures cause different results with vaginal discharge.

Questions 4 wks after surgery

I read from this site here to expect to pass internal stitches at weeks 3-4 but it was only last week at 5 1/2 weeks that I suddenly had a bit of pain and blood and later passed what I can only assume was stitches, but I was not expecting them to be green. I have continued to pass these green threads (actually remind me of butcher's string, but green not white, as it is much thicker than I expected) for the last 5 days. Anyone else passed green threads; or am I just being environmentally correct?!!!

disolvable surture is often dyed a color( green) so they can tell where they used it. Catgut is brown.
