Did you have Fibromyalgia?

If you did, does that affect the hysterectomy? Is there anything I should be prepared for?

Did you have Fibromyalgia?

I don't have fibromyalgia, but there is a good article in Pre-Op Articles about it:

Fibromyalgia & Hysterectomy Surgery

I also found some recent threads that discuss it. I hope these will help you until someone comes along who's been there.

I hope this gives you a place to start. Best wishes for your upcoming surgery! Good thoughts will be with you!

Did you have Fibromyalgia?

I have Fibro. This year has been so full of flares that I didnt know what to expect after surgery. I actually did really well. I was put on the Vivelle dot patch in the hospital and the lack of menopause symptoms was wonderful.

I was on pain meds longer than most ppl. I take percocet for pain relief regularly but needed to use more and more days at a time for the abdominal pain than some here.

My suggestions include making sure you have a good position to rest in to avoid trigger points and flare ups. Also, because my condition is so severe I was unable to walk as much as many here and did have major pain if i over did it well into my 8th week.

I am currently undergoing testing to see if I have MS in addition to the Fibro, but the newer sypmtoms came after I felt healed abdominally.

I do still get a day or two of abdominal pain if I am constipated. Probably from adhesions.

Best of luck to you. I hope you have help at home so you can rest and heal. It is very important to cherish you during this time even if the rest of the world could care less.
