Anti-Depressants

I've taken them for several years. I'm currently on Lexapro 20 mg. (My first was Celexa which worked wonderfully for four years). I was just overwhelmed by having to do anything -- even a trip to the grocery store was more than I had energy for. When I started the constant crying, my husband (then fiance ) told me I needed to see someone. The next day at work, a colleague saw me and took me straight to my office to call my ob-gyn. I went the next day and within 4 days, I began to see the world again -- the "color came back," you might say.
I can't say enough about the positive effects of ADs for me. I know everybody's different. (I was 42 when I started -- I'm 47 now)
Best of luck.

Anti-Depressants

I had my TAH just days before you. I was quite emotional and discouraged up until last week - felt like things began to even out a bit for me then. I felt the most encouraged by getting outside and moving around a bit - even when the weather wasn't very nice.

After a different surgery, several years ago, I took anti-depressants, and they were very helpful. I think I took them for about 3 months, then gradually went off.

One thing about taking meds for depression is to make sure your depression can't be dealt with thru less invasive means. many of us on this website tried for years to deal with our 'female problems' , but it wasn't until we removed the "root" (so to speak) that we were healed. The same CAN be true of depression. it is important to try and discover WHY you are depressed, so you can take the very best measures to overcome the depression.
I'll be praying joy for you, Liz.

Anti-Depressants

I was on 75 mg of Effexor for hot flashes before surgery and tried to wean myself off after the surgery. I was unable to because even with an estrogen patch, I experienced hot flashes and unexplained crying. I had a TVH with both ovaried removed.

Anti-Depressants

(((Liz)))) I'm sorry you're having a hard time

I'm currently taking Trazodone in order to with the terrible The anti-depressants are also helping with the hot flashes and night sweats and, naturally, the mood swings.

It's important to discuss your symptoms with your doctor: while they could be a direct cause and effect the surgery, there could also be another reason for the symptoms and they would need to be addressed.

Lots of s. I do hope that going back to work will bring some relief

Anti-Depressants

Liz - I suffered from depression for years until they put me on AD. It took a while to get the right combination but now I am depression free and it is wonderful. If you are feeling blue and cry easy, I highly recommend AD. I am on Wellbutrin SR and Celexa (generics of both) and while I don't like taking pills all the time, I would much rather be the happy bouncy person I am so I will take them the rest of my life if need be. I hope you find a solution because life is too short and women have enough problems without dealing with depression on top of it.

Good Luck and Happy New Year!!
