Break through bleeding is a known side effect of some oral contraceptives. The only way to diagnose endometriosis is visually. Endometriosis can cause lots of issues, and certainly chief among them is pain.

I've had several laparoscopies and for some I felt great the next day and some I felt tired and achy for several days. Kinda depends on what is done during the procedure and you individual reaction to the procedure.

Most patients find they can resume normal activity in 4 or so days. You should call your doctor now and find out when he would expect for you to return to normal.

You probably won't need to bring anything but yourself to the hospital. You might bring a good book, if that will help you to relax while you wait. Again, call your doctor's office and ask if you need to bring anything.

Best wishes to you on a smooth procedure! Keep us posted, we care!!!

Pretty much everything Michelle said is totally the same for me.

I've had a number of laparoscopies as well, and at the most I had to take a week off of work (when I had an ovary removed), but I also have always been working secretatrial jobs.

I did bring a cd player and a stuffed animal with me, just to help me relax (once they even let me take the cd player into the operating room with me!), other than that I just wore clothes that would be comfy to wear back home- make sure you wear slip on shoes, unless you want to have to ask the nurse to tie your shoes!

Prayers for a safe and speedy recovery!!

Good luck with your surgery, Foxbody. I hope you do well and they find the problem - but that it's not endometriosis.
I had break-through bleeding each time I went on the pill, but each time it eventually resolved. Hopefully yours will also.

Hang in there. Keep us posted.

Best wishes to you for your surgery! I hope all goes well and you feel much better afterward! Hopefully the laparoscopy will let your doctor see exactly what is going on inside and how to help you with your pain! And hopefully the D&C stops the bleeding!

in there and let us know how things go! S

Thanks for the update foxbody. I'm glad they found the trouble and thankful you were able to keep an ovary. I hope you feel better soon.
