Complex ovarian cyst on my only ovary

Just wondering if anyone else has had this come up. I had a hysterectomy in March 2007. The Gyn doctor had to take my right ovary due to the fact that it had attached itself to my uterus and had some scarring. Today I went to the ER for severe abdominal pain, after having a CT scan to rule out appendicitis, they sent me for an ultrasound. The final diagnosis was complex ovarian cyst. Not sure what to think? Scared to lose my last ovary and scared it could be canerous.

wallflower69, I had a cyst come up on my ovary 7 months after my hyst that caused me a lot of pain too. It seems to be a common occurence after a hyst for those of us who kept our ovaries. The chances of it being cancerous are slim, so don't panic. Have you followed up with your dr? If not you need to let him know so that he can check it out further. I hope your feeling better soon. Keep us posted. Lots of 's,
Carol

If I have painful cysts, do I really need a hysterectomy? I went in to the gyno last week. I have cysts and fibroids but my pain is the lower right side. He said it is the quality of life and if I wanted to have continual pain.
