Really Nervous about Lavh/Bso - Anemic and Scared (children mentioned)

I am having a lavh/bso on Wednesday.
I am a 28 year old Stay At Home Mommy! I have 2 beautiful baby girls who are 6 1/2 and 2 1/2.

I Little history on me
I had Gastric Bypass surgery 9/12/2003, since then i have been battling Anemia, severe that i have under gone many iron transfusions every 6 weeks for the past year. On June 15, 2007 I had my tubes tied and Novasure(endimetrial ablation done) It worked until August when I started bleeding heavily again. The cramps since the ablation have been so bad that i couldnt take them. They just make me keel over in pain. So a few weeks ago when I went back to my iron doctor, he said my only option left for my anemia was a hysterectomy. My gyn and I talked and said the LAVH was the best option for the least blood loss. I thought about it and I decided that even tho I am only 28 years old and I have had many problems with cyst before that I would like to go ahead and removed my ovaries too.

I have had about 8 surgeries in the past for various things, appendix, gall bladder, the bypass, Exploratory many times. But for some reason this time I am SO scared!! I have been reading you ladies stories and they seem reassuring. I am scared I will wake up with a Huge scare (dr said its a possibility because of my history they he may have to conter to an open procedure) I watched the video today and everything and I still dont feel any better about it. Has anyone had to have it converted? Or had to have blood transfusions because of low iron?

Please give me some insight and let me know this is going to be fine!

I have had severe anemia, and is one of the reasons I am going to my surgery, although I haven't had it to the point you have. I was told though that I would never get me iron up to normal until I stopped bleeding.

Several years ago, I went under the knife expecting a lap. appendectomy and woke up with a huge scar. Oh, well. I'm not a vain person, and certainly am not about my belly which no one but my husband has ever seen! LOL! If it happens, it happens. They won't do it if it isn't medically necessary. And, as long as you stay out of the sun with it at first, it will fade and not be that noticeable.

Wishing you the best!

Hi there,
I could have written this post. I also had gastric bypass in 8/04, struggled with severe anemia, iron transfusions, blood, etc....doc told me on Nov. 3, this isn't working....I had a bad reaction to the last iron I got. He said see the gyn to stop your periods....and that is how it all started.

I had my lap hysterectomy last Monday. Did you have your gastric bypass lap? If so, for me, the hyst was much worst....the lap bypass really gave me nopain....I have had alot with this.
