Bowel Cleansing

I have to take 30cc at 3:00 then at 6:00, Will I be able to spen my day doing anything but this? Or should I just bring a table in there with books, mags, even bottled water.
I will have all this going on and DH works from 4pm-4am. He will not be here and I will have to deal with our children, I think soup will be for dinner. I will set it all out with instructions with my 10 year old. I know he can set it up ok. Most off all the dirctions will be eat early and don't bother mom in the bathroom....Shower time can be after....How long will each dosage last?

PrincessN, what exactly are you taking? Is it called GoLightly or are you taking the pills? I've done a ton of bowel preps for colonoscopies. Yes, once you get started, you're homebound until you're done. But it's not like you are confined to the bathroom the whole time. It comes and goes. You'll be able to do other things too, just make sure you can get there when you get that urge. But no, you won't have to camp out in there with a sleeping bag and a good book, ha.

I agree, you shouldn't have to "move into " the bathroom. But, do stay nearby & keep the path clear
Some soft wet wipes would be a good idea too.

Your 10 year old sounds like a jewel, give him a hug.

Yes, Jeanus is right, some wet wipes or also some Charman Ultra really helps. That's the worst part, being so raw and chapped up after a bowel prep.

I was told yesterday that I'd have to do magnesium citrate--- half a bottle at first then the second half several hours later. How in the heck big is this bottle anyway? That is all that I am worried about. I have a very strong and quick gag reflex and I wonder if I can keep it down long enough for it to get where it needs to go. I used a tiny little bottle of something the last time I had a colonoscopy and it wasn't fun but it wasn't bad compared to the gallon of stuff that my sister had to take. I think mine was called phosphsoda or something like that.

Any input on the size of the bottle of magnesium citrate that I will be getting OTC will be appreciated.

It's about 10 oz, and it's best if you chill it well first in the fridge, then drink it with a straw. It tastes like very very sour lemonade.

If it's the same as the prep that I've done for colonoscopies, it's a small (6 oz - I think - bottle).

I don't have a surgery date yet, but am not looking forward to this prep - if it's the same. The bottle I'm thinking of is mixed with juice. It's lemon flavored. I will tell you that grape juice has not been the same for me since the first prep about 5 years ago. But if it is going to make surgery go smoother, I guess I'll have to tolerate it.

My doc gave me 2 bottles and told me to start around lunch time. I didn't even think to ask if I take them both at the same time? What do you think?

I'm not sure, but I would call and ask. The one that I am familiar with is done 1/2 a bottle at a time and let me just say, it is a thorough experience. I would think - again don't know - that 2 bottles of anything would have to have some staggered time.

Good luck!!!

I'm doing Fleets phosphosoda. I am allowed to mix each dose with 6 oz of OJ. I have been doing jello and ckn broth all day, so I hope this will be quick and painless. I have 45 mins left... and counting....
