Pubic Hair thinning and gone in patches why?

Hi I am taking BHRT test, triest, and prog via cream all 3 are seperate. 1 mg daily of ea. although i do tweak the dosage like dr said, when I need more or less.

Ok here is my issue I read "somewhere" here that too much or not enough test lside effect can be that you can lose/thin pubic hair.

I have been concentrating on getting more prog and est to my painful aching joints and muscles. I don't have arthritis, or anything like that either been tested. Now what is going on have I dosed too much, not enough test and now my pubic hair is thinning?

Also when I try to get more prog as my dr said I seem to really BLOOAT (like swelly belly) in the late afternoon. And I mean really bloat like uncomfortablly so.

So any advice?

I'm not sure where I've read this, but I'm under the impression that the thinning pubic hair is a symptom of hypothyroid. Weight gain in the middle of your body (you described bloating) is also another symptom of hypothyoid. Just something to think about.

Wow, yet another "symptom" of hyporthyroid but dr check and did blood and other tests that came out "normal". And YES I am totally weight gaining in the middle, and nothing helps it! My cousin has Hypo or is it Hyper I get the two mixed up and so I know all about it and have been watching myself. But I am one of "those" who my tests are always "normal". BTW, the dr I saw that said this is an OBGYN and another that checked me for arthitis was diff than an obgyn. Should I see a diff specialist

I have read that some women who show "normal" thyroid levels really are not. There are basic thryoid tests and more involved ones - perhaps another, more detailed test would show you something? An endocrinologist is the specialist who works with these issues.

Pubic Hair thinning and gone in patches why?

Hi!
Oh, I'm so glad for this thread. I had to have my thyroid removed in June for a multinodular goiter. The whole time up to the removal my test results were normal and now my doctor said the medicine has brought me back to normal but I'm having the same problems with pubic hair and my waist.

My surgeon had told me that it didn't matter what the tests show if you aren't feeling right then something probably needs to be tweaked.

I'm on the Vivelle dot and can't take progesterone. My estrogen levels are supposed to be in the normal range.

Right now I have another medical issue to deal with but then I think I'll have a serious talk with my doctor about the thyroid medication.

Thanks again for the thread!

So if I go see an endocrinologist to focus on this all being a thyroid issue - how does all this new stuff connect with balancing my hormones thru BHRT??? Man its all so confusing!!! Did I not get enough triest, prog, and test, too much what???

I just tried to really search out what hypo t is but I don't see the connection with BHRT therapy and hysterectomies/menopause

fix greeting

Hi Dawnjxsn,

An endocrinologist is the expert on Hormones. Having a thyroid out of whack can indeed make it harder to balance the other hormones. My Dr made it clear to me that the thyroid has to be at the right level before the other hormones can be balanced. Changing my estrogen dose changes my thyroid needs everytime. Also, not all women need progesterone. I don't use any and feel great.

My endocrinologist takes care of all my hormonal needs and issues; thyroid, insulin and estrogen, testosterone.....etc.

When you make an appointment though, make sure that the reason you give is your thyroid. Many endocrinologists will not see women who have no other endocrine issues other than being menopausal. However, once they see you, if you have another endocrine issue they will take care of it all.....at least mine does.

S,
Kay

And just to clarify - your ovaries are part of your endocrine system.
