When did your staples come out?

Hi,

I had my TAH on 12/11, incision closed with staples. I had a hematoma though, and my doc wants to leave the staples in so that I don't "pop". He wants me to wait until the 27th. Did anybody else have to wait that long?

When did your staples come out?

Hi,

I had a SAH on 12/13 and I just went yesterday to have my staples out. I didn't have any problems with it though so that's probably why you need them longer. I got surgical tape put on and I have to go back in two weeks to get that removed. It's the first time I ever had staples and I was glad to get them out for sure.

When did your staples come out?

I had my surgery on 9/13/07 and had the staples removed after one week. I was glad to have them removed but then I guess I "popped" and it was a complete nightmare. I wish the staples would have stayed in longer and I would not have had to go through all that. I had to have a wet/dry bandage changed twice a day for about 4 weeks. It was not fun and I would not wish it on anyone. I do not want to scare you but I hope this helps ease your mind about waiting

When did your staples come out?

you are getting caught 2fold -- one that you had problems and he wants more time for you to heal. but you are also at a holiday weekend.

most offices do not want a busy schedule for monday Christmas Eve -- nothing on Christmas day --
the 26th will be a busy day for emergancy stuff- ( usually)
so makes sense that they would wait until the 27th.

Staples

I had surgery on the 9th (March) and didn't get staples out till the 28th...very similar to you...after they took the staples out the y put steri strips and a little bit of glue. I healed really well, so it was worth it.

When did your staples come out?

I never had the staples. They did stitches on me. How does it feel
to have the staples in. I know that has to really hurt.

I got staples on Monday (12/17)

and they came out on Wednesday (12/19) and covered the incision with stirrup (sp?) strips, and gave me a compression wrap to wear. She said the strips will start to peel on their own and not to pull them off myself, but to keep the compression wrap on, and just take it off when I take a shower. The wrap really helps and the incision doesn't hurt as much now that the staples are out.

When did your staples come out?

Hi

I had a TAH/BSO on 10/23 6 days later the staples came out.

Two days later my hematoma popped, 4 days twice a day packing had to be changed.

On 4th day Dr put me back in to see why it was not healing right, found another clot. cleaned incision area out, put a JP tube in had that for 4 days; staples came out 7 days later.

Steri-strips come off on their own the week of Thanksgiving.

I'm doing great now...feel good, back to work.

When did your staples come out?

Thanks everybody! Yep Creshaunda, the staples are kind of "picky hurt."

I guess I will be patient, as my doc said I actually looked better than he expected, given my situation. I kept ice on my belly every day since the surgery, and now I am rubbing some Vitamin E on the edges (since they've closed and danger of infection past). It sounds like I would do well just to relax and let it "cook on the stove" longer.

When did your staples come out?

My surgery was Monday and they removed the staples on Thursday. They did glue and strips. My incision looks great so far but I am only 5 days post op. I am trying not to read to much into other ladies issues and get myself worried but at least I know what to look for.

The smell of the glue is awful though.

I have had staples following 2 c sections and had staples following the removal of my left ovary about 4 years ago. I never had an issue but this is the first time I had any bruising on my belly.

After the birth of my first child 17 years ago I had my staples removed after 6 days. About 8 years later and itching constantly a piece of one of the staples came out. Other then an itchy spot I had no issues.
