Mesh excision 2 weeks post op pain! :(

I had mesh excision two weeks ago from my vaginal canal. I am STILL having the same pain inside that I was having before the excision.

The vaginal pain is gone, but the pain somewhere deeper, ovary? bladder? bowel? I have no idea, but it HURTS. And worse than before

I asked the urogyn specifically about the deeper internal pain and he ran no tests or anything he only addressed the mesh in my vagina. I'm getting worried he missed something

Shouldn't he have run CT scans, ultrasounds etc. to insure that the mesh is not attached itself to something deep inside? What if there is urine backing up causing pressure?

Or could this just be bladder irritation from the excision surgery? I know, no one can know the answers here, and I will call the Doc FIRST thing tomorrow. I'm just needing some information here so I don't freak out. I also need to know kind of how to bring this up with him. Dang it all, all I need is another problem.

His Nurse told me well, after the excision, if there are still issues we will know more.

What I'm feeling is almost like something pinching, cramping deep inside.

I'm so sorry to hear you are having this pain! Gosh, I was hoping you would have no problems at all after the surgery. Obviously, call your doc as soon as they are back in the office, but the only thing I can think of is maybe a bladder issue? Do you have any bladder problems? I have IC and it causes SO much pain--deep abdominal and back pain. Were you catheterized during surgery? Maybe a bladder infection??

Please let us know what your doc says once you are able to get in touch with him!

Hugs

Well, the pain subsided overnight a TAD. I'm going to place a call this afternoon though. I just feel like this Doc missed something. I could be just paranoid too!!

Mesh excision 2 weeks post op pain! :(

I called the nurse today and made an appointment to be seen next Wednesday.

I explained my suspicions to her and she was very helpful. She said typically this urogyn. uses a cystoscope during mesh excision to insure no mesh has eroded into the bladder. She didn't have my op notes in front of her so she could not confirm that....I just have been paranoid the pain is my bladder and that I'm leaking urine from the vaginal incision.

I hope she's right and all of this it just post op pain. Though it was deep pain that was there before surgery so who knows!!??

I can say with some certainty that the pain is particularly aggravated after a BM. Maybe that will subside over time. From day one of the TVT insertion I had some deep pelvic/rectal pain.

I just want all of this to be over already.

Magnolia, I'm glad you have an appointment with your Dr. Although I do think you're expecting too much too soon. I told you I returned to work two weeks after the mesh excision. However I did not say that I was feeling 100%. You just had surgery. No matter how non-invasive it was, you are still recovering from a vaginal incision and anesthesia. There was a lot of poking around in there. You will have swelling and pain after a BM, or being on your feet too long or doing too much. You will still have vaginal pain but with each passing day it should get better.
The nurse is right, most surgeons will perform a cystoscopy after surgery to be sure there is no bladder damage. I think what you are experiencing is normal for your stage of recovery but I'm happy that you'll be seeing your Dr to be sure.

Mesh excision 2 weeks post op pain! :(

See, I guess that's where I'm getting a little scared. This is kind of new pain. I had it a bit before surgery, it's just worse now. I'm glad I'm getting in next week instead of waiting out six weeks as scheduled.

I know I am expecting too much. I am sure I shouldn't be freaking out over some pain issues, even if it was rather non invasive surgery this time. I'm frustrated and paranoid for sure!!

Thanks for the support This is so very difficult to deal with, it's hard to wrap the brain around this thing that seems to have taken over my life.
