Hey hunny, sorry you're having a rough time. I found having it over ice made it a bit more bearable. It took a couple of hours to kick in for me. Hang in there. You're almost to the finish line.

I think my citrate took about a half an hour to kick in. I thought I had gas, and oops! Not! It truly is nasty tasting. I think it's much more bearable on ice. I thought the lemon-lime flavor was better than the cherry. Good luck!

Did you try taking a gulp and then following it quickly with a water chaser?

I have to do this next Sunday. I have a really quick gag reflex so I'm afraid I 'll lose it before it has a chance to work. My doctor told me it is not as bad as phosphasoda but a least you only do 3 oz of that stuff.

Do you have to drink three 10 oz bottles? I have to do half a bottle twice unless I heard her incorrectly. I'll double check at my pre-op on Thursday.

Good luck. My heart aches for you.

How much of this stuff do most people have to do. Is 10 oz enough to do the trick? I also have to do an enema in the AM before I go to the castle.

Becky, this thread is referring to the magnesium citrate bowel prep. There are various types of bowel preps, and some docs don't require one at all. It's important that you follow your own surgeon's instructions to a tee. You'll get that information at your pre-op appointment. Good luck!

I guess I'm a little bit different...I found it more tolerable at room temperature. That way I could drink it faster and get it over with.

I guess I am lucky in the fact that the Magnesium Citrate did not bother me. I chilled it in the refrigerator and liked it that way the best. I think it took a hour or two for it to kick in for me. I only had to drink one bottle which was good in the fact that even though I didnt gag drinking it its not something that I would want to drink all the time, the aftertaste is what got me...quite salty tasting. I drank something with taste in it after the citrate as a chaser...to get the taste out. I think I used ginger ale.

Good luck.
