Help- Cluster Cysts?

Hello- I got the results from my internal/external ultrasounds. Both ovaries (all i have left) have cysts, however the left ovary is a large cysts mass with clusters. Can anyone tell me what this means? Could it be ovarian cancer?? I have graves (hyperthyroidism) and i know that the chances of ovarian cancer increases 80%. I've never heard of 'clusters' I'm waiting for my gp to call me with an appt with a gyno (same one who did the hyster) Please help!
Thanks- Lorili

Help- Cluster Cysts?

Hi lorili
I don't know anything about cluster cysts. Did your doc order a CA125 blood test? That can sometimes be a helpful test to determine if ovarian cancer may be an issue. However, it is not a diagnostic tool.
If you are at an increased risk, I would strongly suggest having a gynecological oncologist review your case, and perform the surgery. If the worst case scenario happens - they are the best to optimally 'debulk' you of any cancer, and do the proper biopsies and staging.
I hope that you are worrying about nothing! Please keep us updated, and let us know what the gyne/onc says about the cluster cysts!

Help- Cluster Cysts?

Hi lorili,
I am sorry that you are having this worry about the cluster cysts. I am not familiar with this type of cyst. What kind of tests have your doctor done? Most times ovarian cysts are benign and while tests can determine the probability of cancer, only removal and the pathologist looking at the cysts can determine if it is cancer or not. Is your doctor thinking it is cancer? If he does, I would recommend a gyn/onc to perform any surgery.

We also have a section of HysterSisters called Ovaries Only? where you can read posts and see if there is any thing that can help you.

Let us know what you learn when you see your doctor.
