Swelly Belly Band for Laparoscopic Hysterectomy???

I just wanted to let you know that it is possible that you won't even need one. My surgery was laparoscopic and I didn't. If no one else replies, maybe you could wait until you see if you really need one.

Swelly Belly Band for Laparoscopic Hysterectomy???

I had a laprascopic procedure as well and didn't need one. Though I still stayed in sweats and knit pants most of the time. A couple pair of my jeans tend to rub a little too much two of my incisions that are still tender.

You may feel like it. BUT DON'T!!!!! Listen to your doctor and your body and don't push it! If you have internal stitches, they need time to heal. (I say if only because my doctor did not use internal stitches. He cauterized everything.)

Swelly Belly Band for Laparoscopic Hysterectomy???

I had a laparoscopic hyst on Jan. 3rd and my doctor cauterized everything too and I don't need a band either. My doctor still gave me the full 6 weeks off to recover and I am taking it easy and very little pain. I am still a bit swollen and tired but other than that doing great. Good luck tomorrow!

My doctor didn't even want to see me again until 4 weeks post-op and told me that I would need to be off of work at least 4 weeks and maybe even 6. I go back Friday to see if she will release me back to work. My incisions on the outside are healed, but I obviously cannot see the ones on the inside, so I don't know yet what she will do! I wouldn't plan on going back to work Monday! Take your time to heal - you will need it!

I had LAVH 4 weeks ago.... and have felt great since surgery. But! there may be days when you're very tired and days where you feel more energetic. Take heed to your surgeons advise... do not lift more than 10 lbs, do not do laundry, vacuum, push or stretch strenuosly. Doing any of these things really could delay your internal healing... and you really can feel when you've pushed your body too hard... the pangs of pain will appear telling you to stop overdoing it.

I have a gorgeous 3 month old granddaughter that I couldn't resist holding, walking, rocking, burping. Just handling her 12 lb chubbyness for an hour really took it out of me and the following day I could feel the "band" in my abdomen was sore from the efforts.

Trust all that say... take at least 4 to 6 weeks off for recovery! It's the internal healing that needs time. Too much effort and you may find yourself very uncomfortable.

It's also true that once your family sees you in your clothing and with a bit of makeup on it becomes assumed that you're all better. That opinion would carry in the work environment as well.

Please take care of yourself and take it easy during your healing time.

Never noticed a change (swelling) with my LSH. Didn't need a band nor different clothing than normal.
