When do they switch from LAVH to TAH?

Hello all of you dearhearts! I was wondering for those of you that went in for LAVH and the dr decided to do TAH, what circumstances make them switch? i was wondering because I had a long spinal fusion done in June 07 and one of the surgeries was done through my abdomen, and I have a long incision from my waist to the pubic bone. I am wondering how much scar tissue he will have to deal with, and if he might change his mind once he gets in there. I go in tomorrow for the final preop and will ask, but I was wondering what the sisters had to say about it....Thanks ladies!

When do they switch from LAVH to TAH?

I had two c-sections almost 20 years age, and was schedules for an LSH with just removal of the uterus, with the understanding that if there was too much scar tissue from the sections, the doc. may need to change the procedure. Instead when he went in he saw Stage 4 endometriosis and had to do a TAHBSO. I guess we just have to trust our docs. that they will make the right medical choice.

When do they switch from LAVH to TAH?

I was scheduled for LAVH, TVT and scheduled an abdominalplasty at the same time. Urogyn still wanted to go in vaginally even though the plastic surgeon would be cutting open my belly anyways.
During surgery Dr found an incredible amount of endo and decided to have the plastic surgeon start the belly incision so Dr could get a better view and make sure he didn't miss any endo. he also ended up taking out one ovary.
So for me the switch was made during surgery. But I knew going into surgery that I would be recovering from an abdominal incision from the abdominalplasty anyways.

When do they switch from LAVH to TAH?

My doctor decided on a TAH when the adhesions were too thick to be taken down laparascopically. She even did a second port for a better view but there was just too much in the way.

When do they switch from LAVH to TAH?

My Dr told me at pro-op that my right ovary may be too big for lapararasope so he may have to change to a laparotomy and then he explained that meant I would have about a 4 inc insision instead of just the little one had to pull out my preop paperwork to get the right terms LOL
