New- sore throat

Hi,

I finally signed up after just lurking for a couple of weeks! I am having surgery on Monday, I went in for my pre-op yesterday and was totally scared but was feeling healthy (except for my prolapse). They kept asking me if I had a cough or sore throat which I didn't. Then this morning I woke up with a little bit of a sore throat! I didn't call the Dr. office about it because I was hoping that I would feel better tomorrow. Should I call if I don't feel better tomorrow or should I give it a day or two? I am so scared about having surgery, and I would hate to postpone it if I didn't need to. What do you all think?

if you start with cold symptoms with the sore throat, or your throat hurts worse tomorrow, you should let them know. especially if you are running a fever. you still have plenty of time to get over something but they would want to know so they could make the decision about whether to reschedule or not. good luck..i hope its gone tomorrow.

Do you have a fever? See how you feel in the morning, if it's an allergy sore throat, you'll know, if not, they should know, maybe they can give you antibiotics? They're also asking because sometimes they do a breathing tube in surgery so they don't want you coughing while you're under and dislodging it, or making your throat more sore than it already is! You also don't want to go into surgery with anything brewing.

Get good rest and feel better!

New- sore throat

If your throat is still sore or you're feeling ill, please do call your dr about it. I'm sure that you don't want your surgery to be postponed but it's really important for you to be in the best health possible. Please don't try any meds or treatments without getting approval from your dr ahead of time. You never know what might cause complications or reactions with surgery. Please be cautious - you're worth it
