Depression post-op, 2 months

I had surgery on 11/26, and I am just beginning to feel almost back to normal. However, I still feel
sad and depressed a lot. It usually happens at night when I am alone or if something or someone reminds me that I can't have kids. For example, I ran into an old boyfriend whom I hadn't seen in years. He talked about his kids, and
then said, "I'm surprised you're not pregnant yet".
I just laughed it off because I didn't feel like telling him the truth. When I came home, I thought about that and began to cry to myself.
Sometimes I don't even need a reminder; I just
get sad for nothing. If an argument or something triggers it I sometimes feel suicidal, although I have NEVER wanted to act on those feelings, it's more like, "I wish I wasn't here"
Thanks for just letting me get this out. Am I normal, or am I ready for the Crazy House?

Depression post-op, 2 months

SundaySchool,

Please find a counselor to speak with about this loss and sorrow in your life. Losing the opportunity to have a child is a life changing event. Talk therapy will go a long way in helping you work out these valid feelings you have. There is so much solace in the act of talking about and facing your sorrow with someone who an make you feel so validated.

I'm praying for you and your sorrow.

Please let us know how you're doing!

Peace and Love,
Brinks

A very smart Dr. once told me -- you don't neede antidepressants --you need to be sad. What happened to you is SAD. Allow yourself time to grieve. You have suffered a loss. If in 3-6 months you still find yourself as sad as you are today. You may need antidepressants. You are NOT crazy.

I agree that you may want to find a good spiritual counselor (for me a Christian counselor) and talk through your very real feelings.

I am praying for you....

Bon M
