I survived cervical cancer
Last april(2006) i was diagnosed with stage 2b cervical cancer. My journey began, i started my first round of chemo and radiation. Chemo was once a week for 3 months and radiation every day for three months also had 3 internal radiations i thought at the time this was the most painful thing i ever felt. Boy was i wrong every time i felt that way something else came along that was more painful. After all the chemo and radiation all we did shrink the tumor so on sept 11 2006 i had a total hysterectomy, of course not without complications tumor was attached to my bladder so they sewed it up and i came home with a catheter for 3 weeks. Bladder spasms and infections sent me back to hospital awful pain. Finally cath came out started doing better but had to have a couple surgeries. One to see if all cancer was gone and second to put my port in my chest to recieve more chemo. So new cut on chest and neck for that. Started my secound round of chemo, It was a harder course this time. It was three days in a row then three weeks later do it again for months, But if any ifection or low blood counts had to wait so the 6 months lasted longer. After my first round started having complications with my bladder, having all the radiation to that area my bladder was shot. So i underwent another surgery on nov 27 to have a urostomy. That is a life changing thing for me.after the surgery started chemo again, Christmas was coming and i was getting sicker and sicker, we were all sure i woudnt make it, Finally the day after christmas i was admitted to the hospital with a blood count of 4 and a massive staph infection in my blood from my port. That was a long stay but i got thru it. The chemo was hell on my kidneys so a week after each round of chemo i was in the hospital with infections i had about 5 hospital stays from that. Finally march 31 2007 i finished my last round of chemo. And on May 3 2007 they told me i was cancer free. I go back every 3 months to be checked and so far i am clean.. This is all thanks to the Almighty God who watched over me and helped me thru, As well as the best husband, children and family a person can get.So thank you to my family and i love you all very much So to any woman who reads this dont every put it off get your PAP smear done every year no matter what.."
