bleeding 4 yrs post op?

Hello everyone, a few questions.

I had my hyst, 4yrs, well almost 5 yrs ago now. I had a supracervical hyst and I knew the risk of vaginal bleeding by keeping my cervix. I still chose to keep it, and I was one of those unlucky few who does occasionally experience light spotting, but it has never really bothered me.

Lately I have not been feeling well, lots of back pain and pelvic pain, I felt like maybe I was getting a kidney infection. Which with me is not unheard of since I have renal issues as well. So off to a trip to the DR. He checked me out, did a pap, since I was due anyways and is setting up a CT scan. He is my primary dr not a GYN but he is internal med dr and I adore him. Well that appt was a couple of days ago and still not feeling better. But today I get home from work and I am bleeding! Not lightly either. But need to put a pad on bleeding! And my stomach and back are killing me. I called DR and he trying to get me into a GYN immediately. But I am at a loss of what this could be! Can you get fibroids from left over hyst tissue off the top of your cervix? I still have my ovaries as well, and I have had cysts in the past but would they cause bleeding like this?

bleeding 4 yrs post op?

Hi Bernie Yes, you can get fibroids on your cervix after a hysterectomy. I don't know if you had endometriosis prior to your surgery, either, but that can return and cause bleeding as well.

I hope you're able to get in to see a GYN right away and get this checked out. Let us know what you find out, OK?

bleeding 4 yrs post op?

They are able to get me in tomorrow morning. My insurance approved it right away as an emergency appt with an out of network dr even! WOW Amazed me!!! I feel rather crampy right now, which I have been feeling for a few weeks and my back is really hurting which it also has been for a little over a month now.

Thanks for the info, I had adenomyosis, in all my surgeries which I had several, they never did find any endo, but I know that adeno is a form of endo. A pap 2 years ago did have a slightly abnormal reading in that there was endometrium cells found which they felt was abnormal because of the hyst. But it didn't really bother me that much because of keeping my cervix. They didn't at that time refer me out to a gyn as I felt perfectly fine.

I have always had a great deal of adhessions, but for the most part they haven't bothered me, I thought maybe all the pain was them just finally starting to bother me. I don't think you can have 9 abdominal surgeries with out extensive adhessions. Many of which have been removed through the years as the new surgeries happened. When I had my hyst my dr said I was basically one big ball of adhessions. Which he had to release, and he was amazed I could even walk I had so many.

My job is very physical and a bit stressful and while I can afford to miss work, money wise I am afraid I might loose my job, which I really love. I am just hoping that this is not something that will require more surgery. I was so hoping to be done with all that. The bleeding seems to have let up for the most part. So I am not freaking out as bad as I was.
