Wow, Kareybear, drinking 5 bottles of mag citrate sounds rough! How long has it been since you drank the first bottle? I only drank one bottle for my bowel prep, along with a big glass of water, and it took several hours to work. I kept on drinking other liquids (gatorade, diet soda, tea, etc) while I was waiting for it to work. My instructions were to drink one bottle in the morning, and then to use one or two (if needed) fleet enemas at bedtime to finish the job. I ended up using both enemas, and although I didn't have to get up during the night, I still had to go a tiny bit in the morning. I told the pre-op nurses that I wasn't sure the bowel prep was totally finished with me, and they said not to worry, that happens all the time and everyone is completely used to it. As far as I know, that tiny bit in the morning was the last of it, though.
If I were you, I would just sip on some ginger ale while you read a book or magazine or watch TV, and be ready to make a mad dash to the bathroom because I think something is going to happen soon!
Best of luck tomorrow - I wish you a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery. Waiting really is the worst part - well, that and the bowel prep :-)

Take care,
Linda
