bathroom pain at 6 weeks

I'm at 6 weeks and going back to work tomorrow. Is anyone still having discomfort when going to the bathroom? BM's aren't too bad, but urinating is really uncomfortable. My GYN MD said there were a lot of adhesions to remove from my bladder and he'd expect it to be sore for a while, but that was over two weeks ago.

It doesn't feel like a bladder infection (unfortately I've had so many of those presurgical I can tell before the test is positive). Urine color and frequency is fine, otherwise I'd call my general MD asap.

GYN MD saw me just before 4 weeks and told me to come back in a YEAR! So since I won't be seeing him before I go back to work. I thought I'd check in with you ladies! You've been a great resource!

Thanks!

bathroom pain at 6 weeks

I have the same thing. I'm almost 7 weeks post op. When I went to my GYN at 4 weeks, he was concerned but didn't want to try to treat it yet. He wants to see me after three months. He named several possibilities but they went right over my head. I can't remember a single one that he said! But there is one thing he wanted to treat me for if it didn't heal on its own. But he said the medicines don't show an improvement until about 6 months after taking them. WHAT?! 6 months?? I have no clue what that would be. I have done some online searches and found "cystitis"... that could be a possibility.

Good luck on your return to work. I hope you have an easy transition. I went back 2 weeks ago - the first week is so tiring! But my second was a lot easier. Be prepared to go to bed early...or at least nap when you come home. You'll probably be exhausted.

bathroom pain at 6 weeks

I will be two week post op on Feb 3. I'm sorry to read that your having a lot of problems with going to the bathroom too. I had been having bladder spasms since I came home from the hospital but thought they was normal surgery pains. At my one week post op my Dr told me it was a bladder infection with spasms. He put me on Macrobid and Peridium. I took this as directed and was doing great and then Sat morning I woke up and realized I was bleeding/spotting from my bladder NOT my hysterectomy. And having severe spasms. I checked several times and determined the spotting was coming from the urine exit. I called and of course my Dr was out of town and got a callback from an intern who advised I keep doing what I was doing and call my Dr Monday. Yeah right I was hurting and advised to keep hurting. I called him back later after crying and hurting so bad and the Intern called me another antibiotic in. I managed to get two of them in on Sat and today I felt better until about 6 pm and the spasms started again. I took my last Peridium which is to help soothe the spasms and pain and will be called my Dr. first thing Monday morning.
Honestly the bladder issues I have had have been worse then delivering three babies natural and the hysterectomy and I'm praying they won't try to catherize me again.

Thank you for your help. I hope you both recover quickly! I'm going to give it a couple of more days, then I'll email my MD and see if I get a response.

Take care of yourselves!

Hi LHltd,
I have a long history of cystitis and have found a quick way to sooth the bladder is to drink a glass of water with a teaspoon or two of baking soda in it. It isn't a cure, just a patch, but it can make you feel better in under 30 minutes if it is just cystitis.
I hope you feel better soon!
