What should I take to the hospital?

I am also scheduled to have abdominal surgery on the 26th of February. So, so very nervous about it all. Are there any tips on what to do before and after for house hold chores, family needs (2 children, 14 and huhum 46), etc. I have read to take my own pillow. What else would I need to take to the hospital? Thank you in advance for any help coming my way!

What should I take to the hospital?

The Pre-Op Hysterectomy Hints were wonderful for me. My trip to the Castle is Tuesday 2/12 and I have been picking up some of the items suggested. Most Sisters say don't overpack. Sounds like good advice to me. Read lots of the hints and you will see what I mean. You can judge for yourself what you think you will need, but some of the suggestions are things I would not have thought of.

Welcome to the site and good luck with your preparations.

What should I take to the hospital?

Good luck on the 26th.. not that you will need it.
I took my Ipod... my recovery room was next to the elevator doors, so sleep was difficult. It seemed to drown out noises in the hallways. Other than the obvious things that helped me out a lot. Pack like your going to have a baby... thats what I did.

What should I take to the hospital?

after reading all the posts under "post-op surgery nurses" and remembering the experience that I had, I would advise having your husband pick up some nice candy for the nurses, maybe that will get their attention and you will have some nice, attentive staff.

Good Luck and may all go well....

What should I take to the hospital?

I am 4 days post-op and i got alot of good advice here. The biggest for me was to use desitine before the bowel prep. It was a life saver. Also don't forget a robe and slippers for those walks down the hallway.

What should I take to the hospital?

What to bring? I brought everything but the kitchen sink.

I started out with the list that Bizet Woman referenced. Then I modified it for my needs. I then added things that were picked up from other peoples posts.

I went into the hospital with a big duffle bag.

What did I actually use, very little of it. But it got used. My mother ended up staying with me foor my 3 day stay that turned into 5. Well, she ran out of clothes and got to wear my new spiffy lounge pants. I had a number of guests and so between them, most of my stuff got used.

I brought a bowl of candy and between hospital staff and my visitors - it was a huge hit.

I'm the kind of person that would rather be prepared with too much than not enough. Had I only stayed 3 days, I probably would not have used any of it, but it worked out well for me.

Blessings on you ....
