Femring users...has anyone gotten a defective Femring?

Hello All

It has been awhile since I have posted on here.

I have been feeling so darn good, that I had almost forgotten I ever had a hysterectomy.

I was switched to a Femring 0.1 back in July. Have really loved it. My moods were much more even than on the Vivelle Dot and my energy much improved. Just felt really so much better overall. I have even been able to lose weight!!!!

Until, I had a new Femring put in 3 weeks ago.

I have been tired, achy and just plain out of sorts. Hot one minute and cold the next. And so blahhhh all of a sudden.

The worst part is, that I cannot get it out on my own and my Dr. has to replace it for me every 3 months. I have read on here, that if you remove, and rinse it off and put it back in, that sometimes it will rejuvenate the estrogen.

Was just wondering if anyone had ever gotten a bad Femring?

Thanks,

Sweetpea

Femring users...has anyone gotten a defective Femring?

Sweet Pea,

I sent a reply when you mentioned this earlier in the climara/femring thread--don't know if you saw it. I did have that happen to me about two years ago. I ended up taking it back to the pharmacy after I removed it and told them I thought it was defective. They ordered me another one. Also I called Warner Chillcot and complained.

Femring users...has anyone gotten a defective Femring?

Sweet Pea,

I remember having a lot of anxiety and feeling hot all the time. I didn't get that initial estrogen surge that we have all come to love. I just didn't feel quite right. I didn't have a problem getting another one from my pharmacist when I told him I thought it was defective.

I changed my femring a couple of days ago and told a friend I felt like I was in hormone heaven again. I think when your estrogen is right you just feel mellow and happy.

Thanks for your reply Debbie,

I will speak to my pharmacist this week and see if he will replace it for me.

Then, it will be off to the Dr. again!!

Have a great day!

Femring users...has anyone gotten a defective Femring?

I was just coming on here to inquire about this..

Sweet Pea- I think we started on the Femring at around the same time. I also have really liked it though it did seem to wear off a little early for me so I asked my doctor to write to have it changed every 2 months instead of 3. I just changed to a new one last week and had hot flashes that night and the second night which I had not had in a long time, and just feel a little off. I am also wondering if there is some variation in the rings. There clearly is not NO estrogen because the hot flashes have stopped and I wondered if the hot flashes were just a response to the spike then drop in estrogen.
This was the same problem I had with the patches though- I kept thinking I got a bad batch. In the end, it may be me that has variation and not the hormones. Let us know what you decide to do and if a new ring makes a difference.

Femring users...has anyone gotten a defective Femring?

Just to follow up on my issue with the Femring.

I called my pharmacy and they told me to call the manufacturer of the Femring, which I did.

I told them the symptoms I was having and then their nurse got on the phone and I spoke to her.

The very day, they called my pharmacy and replaced my Femring-free of charge.

My pharmacy said to always be careful to check the expiration date, and to remember that this ring has to last approx 3 months.

The Femring makers were very helpful. I do believe that you can get a defective batch of medication. They have just had this issue with Fentanyl patches this week.

I also got a bad batch of Vivelle Dot patches one time from mail order and was miserable for an entire month! Will never use mail order again for anything.

Thanks to all of you for the replies.

Thanks for the info Sweet pea...

Glad to hear that Femring manufacturer was so responsive.

I wonder if some medications are damaged during transportation to the Pharmacies from weather being too hot or too cold?? A lot of meds are temperature sensitive.

The Pharmacy should be checking the expiration date on all the meds they dispense ....before the customer gets it in their hot little hands. That's their job....But the customer should always look to be safe anyway, right?
