Question about bowel prep

ok, so am i to assume that because my surgery is on tuesday the 26th and i don't see my doc until monday the 25th, late morning that i will not have to do a bowel cleansing????

If in doubt, please call your doctor and ask for clarification. Some doctors require bowel prep and others don't. You need to follow your doctor's orders--nothing more, nothing less. A quick call will tell you what you need to know.

Bowel clensing or enema is done the night before surgery (mine was 8pm) but was told that sometimes they have people do it right before surgery at the hospital. Depends on the doctor...but I would say if you see him the day before (Like I did to sign papers and to ask questions) He will tell you to go get the stuff and do it late evening then nothing to eat or drink after midnight.
I didnt eat after the enema (8pm) just to be safe...and comfy too as I didnt wanna run to the potty after eating. I did drink lots of liquid up until midnight and my surgery was 2:30pm

Great advice to call your doc; mine instructed me to start clear liquids the day before surgery to assist with the bowel cleansing; he instructed me to take an oral solution followed by 4 pills in the pm, and then a suppository the day of surgery. I was concerned re: the cleansing so basically ate really light the day before I started the clear liquids. Good luck and give the doc a call

i am first on tuesday...i have to be there at 6 am. i don't see my doc until monday at 11:30. i guess i will call him. thanks!!!!!

I had the same question and also don't see my doc until the day before surgery, so I did call my doctor. They told me he'll tell me what I need to do at pre-op ..... so I'm gonna be surprised either way LOL

I did not have to do any bowel prep whatsoever and it sure was nice. I was only told not to eat or drink after midnite. Guess every doctor has their own protocol. It was the first time I ever had surgery without having to do a bowel prep. Good Luck!
