burning sensation/feeling
Hi everyone,
I've read on several posts that many women feel a burning sensation/feeling somewhere around 2/3 weeks post-op. I've read that this is a sign of healing.
I started getting this burning sensation just a few days ago...it's not all the time, but that is probably because i'm still on percocit. But, when my percocit wears off, or when I am ready to take another, the burning feelign is so bad...
So, what is this burning feeling anyway? I'm talking specifically... I know it's "healing", but does anyone know what causes it?
Also, how long does it last? Do you feel burning up until week 6 post-op, or is this just a "stage" in the whole healing process?
I also get stabbing pain on my right side, but I think that is related to my appendectomy....
Thanks everyone!

burning sensation/feeling
Not only were you put under anesthesia to get through the surgery, so were your nerves and muscles. The anesthesia is wearing off of them and they "know" they have been stetched, cut, bruised, and man-handled. It's a stage in the healing process. After about week five, I only got the burning pain if I moved wrong or too much. Which I did, and paid for, but it goes away quicker now with a little rest and Motrin.
I hope you feel better soon,

burning sensation/feeling
I've heard that the burning sensation can be attributed to the nerves regenerating and healing. I don't know if that's true, but it seems to make sense. As (((bitterpill))) mentioned, by this time, the numbness is wearing off and you'll experience some new sensations.
As healing progresses, since we only see what's happening on the outside, it's easy to forget what has occurred internally. That part takes a lot longer to heal.
As far as the pain on your right side, I had a stabbing sensation on my left side throughout my recovery. Still have a twinge there now and again. I have no idea what this is from, although I have read that sometimes you bear more pain on the side the surgeon is standing on during surgery.
It does take some time. Hang in there.
