muscle and joint pain

Hi all,
I am brand new to this website/form. I had a complete HYS in March 06. Struggled w/HRT for about a year, but finally found one that didn't make me nauseous, or give me headaches. But, since July, I hurt soooo bad. Forearms, shoulders, hands, wrists, calves, shins, feet. I am so confused. I am not sure if is the HRT?? I have been to the doc. many times, who has done a multitude of tests, but nothing??? I am seeing a rheumatologist at the end of the month. If anyone has any advice, that would be great. My entire family is suffering because of this

muscle and joint pain

I am experiencing joint and muscle pain also. I asked my Dr. and he said it is normal for women who have surgical menopause. He is going to test my hormone levels and we are going to discuss my options at my next appointment in March.

Since you are scheduled to see a rheumatologist soon, I have moved your thread over here to our Hysteritaville forum where general health issues that can occur post hysterectomy are discussed. I think you will find the best support here!

When referring you to the rheumatologist, did your doctor suggest what they might be looking for? For instance, has fibromyalgia been mentioned? There are no blood tests to diagnose fibromyalgia and generally a lot of tests are ran to rule out anything else that could be found on a test. I couldn't believe how much blood I had drawn at the lab the last time my neurologist sent me! The lab tech said she was using the largest vial they had and taking the maximum amount of blood allowed!

In the end, my diagnoses has been fibromyalgia along with myofascial pain syndrome centered around my right shoulder. Fibromyalgia can cause pain from head to toe and over the last couple months it has been affecting my hands, feet, and calve muslces. My mom also has fibromyalgia and in the mornings she generally has very swollen hands. She always wears specials shoes to help with the pain in her feet.

I hope the rheumatologist has some answers for you at your appointment. If it all turns out to be hormone related, hopefully you will be referred to a doctor who specializes in treating women with surgical menopause.

Sending lots of s and best wishes your way! Keep us posted!

muscle and joint pain

I have noticed pain in my shoulder recently but I have had 2 car accidents and that shoulder would always have pain every now and then. This pain is always during the time that the weather changes. I take 800 mg Ibuprofen and it seems to help but I try to not take so many because I also take HBP meds as well. Hopefully this will pass. I hope so. I didn't know there was such a thing as surgical menopause.

I still have an ovary, so I'm not doing the meno thing yet. Still, I have had more joint pain since the surgery--or maybe I just notice it more?

i had a similiar issue, so my general practice doctor about it. he said that it seemed like a lack of magnesium and potassium. do you take a vitamin of any kind? might want to ask your doctor about a supplement.

I take a One a Day Women's Multi vitamin everyday. I started taking those everyday even before I had surgery. I make sure I get extra dairy and other things that I need for my diet to get all my nutrients.

surgical menopause is what happens after a hysterectomy and BSO. you are forcefully thrown into menopause because of the surgery.

muscle and joint pain

I had my TAH back in Aug 2007 -- kept my ovaries but still seem to be having a lot of joint and muscle pain. Started taking glucosamine just this week to see if I could get some relief. I haven't spoken to my doc about this yet, though.
