What I should pack to wear home from the hospital?

Any suggestions for what I should pack to wear home from the hospital? I'm tempted to stay in PJ's but am thinking of bringing something very loose to wear after the TAH. Any advice on what you did? Thanks again for all the help! Onward!

Hi
I wore sweatpants with a drawstring, not elastic (yoga pants, actually) and a loose shirt. It was fine. But bring a pillow to go under the seatbelt.

I wore yoga pants too, and a long sleeve tshirt. Slip on shoes so i wouldnt have to have someone tie my shoes!

I wore Pajamas home from the hosptial. :-) But, they didn't really look like PJ's. I bought them in the PJ section of the store.... mabye you could consider them more like "loungewear". And, I have some really comfy slippers that have shoe like bottoms, so you can wear them indoors or outdoors. I wore those home for my shoes.

Yes, definitely have a pillow for the seatbelt! You will need it!!!!

Yes, you don't want that seatbelt to rub against your tummy... OUCH! I'm 16 days post-op, and I still have to put a pillow between my tummy and seatbelt. My tummy is still SOOO tender and achy.

good luck with your surgery!!!!!!

I am debating on getting a few new nightgowns that are sleeveless since I may end up BSO, also (I know they are the ugliest shoes on the planet ) I am going to take my black Croc knockoffs instead of slippers.

With my Tubal/lap in Dec. I got a King sized heating pad and that helped so much with the swelly belly. Plus it automatically shuts off after 2 hours. For the gas in your shoulders I have found muscle rub like Icy/Hot works wonders on releiving the pain.

I'm just going to wear the same thing that I'm wearing when I check in--a sweat shirt and sweatpants.

The nurse laughed at me because I took a small suitcase that was almost empty. I wore sweat shirt and sweatpants for my TVH and wore the same thing home the next day. Slip on shoes are a great idea too. I did not need the robe and slippers that I took but then I was only there for about 15 hours after surgery. There were not even any hangers in my tiny closet.

Take no valuables at all. Pack lightly.

Good luck and good wishes for a quick recovery.

This sort of thing is exactly why this site is so great. Women like me, who have never had surgery before, would never, ever think about stuff like the pillow for the seat belt - and yet, what a huge thing that is!!

Also, I was planning on wearing my sneakers, but now I am thinking about wearing one of the pair of water shoes I have sitting here waiting for my Aruba trip in May...might be a little easier to get into when I am ready to go home.

T H A N K S so much, this stuff is so helpful to those of us waiting!!
