Worried about ovarian cyst

Hi,

I am 54 and in menopause. I had a hysterectomy in 1998 but kept both ovaries. In January 08 I started having some bleeding and lower abdomen pain; that was determined to be caused by significant vaginal atrophy. I have not taken any HRT's. I began using VagiFem last month and the pain has gone. The Gyn did an ultrasound in January to rule out anything else; the test found a few cysts on my left ovary that were small. The Gyn said in January he didn't expect to see them change in size. Well, I had a transvaginal ultrasound this Monday and today the Gyn said that the cyst has grown signficantly. He is baffled by why, since my ovaries should not be producing any estrogen to stimulate them.....my FSH is very high indicating my ovaries are toast.

Why do cysts suddenly grow? I am scared it might be cancer. I'll have a laparoscopy on Feb. 28 and he'll aspirate the cyst at that time & send contents to pathology.

My tumor marker tests came back negative in January, but I know this doesn't mean much. I don't have a family history of ovarian cancer......but I"m worried......any advice?

I cant help with any advice but, I just wanted to tell you I hope it all comes out ok for you and I will say a prayer for you that It is not cancer. .
