vaginal hysterectomy?
Welcome to the Group, I will let you know in a few days, I am having a LAVH tomorrow and from what I have learned it is still major surgery but vaginally is better. I have also been told that the recovery is still 6-8 weeks but a bit better than abdominally.

vaginal hysterectomy?
I had a LAVH/BSO in December. My recovery went extremely well. Pain wise, on day 2 I took tylenol 3 throughout the day, then day 3 only once before bed. I also went to watch a houseleague hockey game on day 3. I was worried about stairs but that was OK as well. I had moderate bleeding for a few days then light bleeding for a few weeks. I was back to work in 4 weeks, but probably could have gone back sooner.
My only advice is to not feel guilty about doing nothing for as long as you want. I had great plans of organizing recipes and pictures and papers but did none of it. But that's OK!
Good luck.

vaginal hysterectomy?
I had my vaginal (not LAVH) on August 17th... I just passed the 6 month mark. The recovery is not as hard as an abdominal but it does still take time. I have a very high pain tolerance so it may not have seemed as "hard" to me as it may to some. I had surgery on a Friday, came home on Saturday AM. My kids' first day of school was Monday. I rode along to drop them off, but opted not to ride along to pick them up. Tuesday it was all me as DH was in middle of major project @ work. I drove them, came home, rested, slept some, stayed on couch, watched tv, read books, etc, went to pick the kids up, came home changed into a nightgown and rested the rest of the evening the first week. The 2nd week was much better in the beginning, but believe me, I could CERTAINLY tell when I overdid it. I quickly learned to listen to my body.
I don't spend much time on here due to other committments.

vaginal hysterectomy?
i had a TVH on 2-5. recovery has been pretty easy until 2 days ago, when i canme down with a UTI.
(theres a post in post op if you want to read the whole story)
without any incisions, its hard to remember sometimes that you just had Major surgery and might tend to overdo it at times.
Pamper yourself before and after, drink plenty of fluids, and REST!!
Good luck, and cant wait for you to join us on the other side

Well, I guess we will both find out in a few days.
I have been so busy getting ready that I haven't had time to worry much about it. TILL RIGHT NOW.
Anyway, that it a whole nother post.
I have heard the same thing, that Vag. is much, much better. With a much quicker recovery time.
Gook luck to youuuuuuuuuuuu

vaginal hysterectomy?
I had TVH in December so I passed my 2 month mark. I did really well with very little pain and I think I did well with the recovery. I had surgery around noon and came home later the next night. I went back to work at 4 weeks and it was tough but you just have to remember you went through major surgery. You have to listen to your body and don't over do it.
I wish you the best....

vaginal hysterectomy?
northwest35,
I had a TVH on 1/31. The surgery itself was over in no time, and I was in my room by 11am and ready to go home the next day. I found my recovery to be so much better than I thought it would be. I was expecting to be laid up for at least 2 weeks and not able to do much at all. I was walking around the hospital that night and walked more than they "made" me. I came home the day after surgery and really only needed someone around with me for a day or two. I was able to walk around and take care of myself after a couple of days. I was really tired most days for the first week while still on the percocet but once I was off that I got more energy back. i did not do a lot of anything but walk daily and rest lots. I had people come over to take out trash, vacuum, etc. I am a little over 3 weeks out and still feel great. I am getting back into my regular routine, worked for a few days last week and plan to got back full time next week. I have a desk job so i should not be too bad.
I found it to be a very positive experience overall for a major surgery. I remind myself each day to rest and remember to take care of myself. It can be harder to do that with no outside marks to remind you. Good luck, you will do great!
Please let me know if there is anything else about my experience that you want to know. No question is dumb or too personal, really.
