Reoccurence of cancer or not?

I had a total TAH two years ago. I had uterine cancer and theyalso found a grandulosa tumor on my ovary during my surgery. I didn't have to have radition or chemo(very blessed there), only routine visits to my oncologist for the rest of my life. I often have pains in the area of my surgery. I had a ct scan last year and nothing showed up. However, whenever you have the "C" word you think every pain is it coming back. I hope it is only scar tissue, but I have alot of with my stomach area bloating. I know alot others have worst problems than this, however is always nice to vent your feelings here and see if anyone else has had the same problem. Thanks for letting me vent and if anyone can help. Thanks again...nifty fifty

Reoccurence of cancer or not?

Hi nifty:

I'm only just over a year out from my surgery for the same thing. I'm so glaf to hear that I'm not the only one feeling like this. I still have pains like you describe and still deal with stomach bloating. Sometimes I bloat up so much during the day that by the time I get home from work, my pants are so tight around the waist I feel like I'm suffocating.

I keep complaining about it to my gyn/onc and so far he says it's probably either scar tissue/adhesions or related to eating or something because nothing shows up on the CT scans.

Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy and wonder if it's all in my head because they can't find anything wrong!!! Soooo very aggravating!!

I completely understand about thinking it's cancer. I suffer from that too. Last November I came down with my first cold in years and thought for sure it was a recurrence somewhere in my body!! I panicked and called my doctor. I went through some tests and found out it was only a cold. Talk about relief!! I was never so happy to hear it was just a cold in all my life!

Hugs and prayers that everything turns out well for you!

Nifty,
You know, our bodies are still adjusting from the surgery. You might have scar tissue or adhesions. You may have just tweaked a muscle that hasn't been used in awhile. However, I do know how cancer head works..so instead of 'wasting time' and driving yourself nuts, why not call the doctor? Talk to the Nurse Practitioner or a nurse and just tell her what's going on. I have found those nurses to be IRREPLACABLE when it comes to dealing with serious bouts of cancerhead. Besides that, if you think that something out of the ordinary is going on , you really do need to let the doctor/nurse make the decision that it's nothing to worry about. That's what they get paid the big bucks for! And it makes life so much easier than worrying and wondering!
Give the office a call, and let us know what they say, ok?

Viking,
Your story reminds me of a time when my stomach was particularly bloated. I was POSITIVE I was having a recurance. I had an exam with the Nurse Practitioner's office who, after palpating my abdomen, told me not to worry....I wasn't in recurance, I was just FAT! I loved that woman! I had never been so happy in my whole life to be told I was FAT!

A word of caution though- please, trust your feelings about your body. If you really feel there is something wrong, don't let anyone brush you off.
I had a pain in my side that I noticed during chemo, that is now likely a recurrence. I wish I would have pushed a little harder when the pain started.
So, don't panic, but also make sure that the doc understands and continues to monitor you.
