Smile - Upcoming cystocele/rectocele repair/partial hysterectomy Upcoming cystocele/rectocele repair/partial hysterectomy

I am a 40 year old newly diagnosed w/ a cystocele and rectocele, as well as uterine prolapse. I have seen 2 different Drs. I had a pessary placed a month ago..I am not happy with it at all. It serves it's purpose but it is annoying !! My husband reminds me that things could be worse, and he is so right!!! I have been set for surgery 3-25-08. I am having my pre op on 3-10-08 and have lots of questions to ask, thanks to you girls on this site ! They are planning to use cadaver donor tissue to do the repairs I need. That is making me nervous. Actually everything is making me nervous, but the cadaver tissue is the icing on the cake. I would love to hear from others who have had or are going to have surgery like this...I'd love to hear what I am in for, so I can obscess and overanalyze it all

I am sorry you are having to go through this, but you have a right to be concerned on what is to be done before surgery. I would set up an appointment with my doctor and have a list of questions about the exact things you are wondering about here. You deserve explanation on what is to be used and how it affects you.

I hope you get the answers and peace from knowing what you need to, before your surgery takes place.

Oh my....yeah that does take the cake.
I dont know how I would feel about cadaver tissue....I mean...I guess if it were an organ it wouldn't bother me but....are they taking someone elses vaginal tissue and putting it there?
I think it would be a severe mental block for me and possibly even my hubby. But if it does better than the mesh I have heard about I say its WELL worth it! For sure!
Let us know how things go, I will say a prayer for you!
