Stupid Question of the Day

Hi all,

I hope I am not embarrassing myself too much here but I have a question that I forgot to ask my Dr. I had SAH on 2/19, had my 2-week check-up and everything is great and I feel pretty good too. Question is..what happens to the space in your abdominal cavity once they take out your uterus (mine happened to be enlarged)? Do other organs move into that space or is there a "black hole" remaining? Also, since I kept my ovaries, where do the eggs go since there is no longer a uterus? Are they just going to float around in there? I think I have too much time on my hands and am maybe thinking too much!!!

Stupid Question of the Day

Let me start out by saying I'm no medical expert here. I would believe your other organs would just shift and fill in the gap. I guess it would be the same as having a baby if you had one. The only difference is your uterus is much smaller now than a gap that would be there from a baby. Secondly, I DO know that you still produce eggs and they do float in your body and then are absorbed. They are microscopic pretty much. I DID ask an RN that question because I was curious too.

Stupid Question of the Day

LOL! My Mom and I JUST had this discussion last week! She had her TAH/BSO 7 years ago and mine was four weeks ago. I thought my boyfriend was going to cry he was laughing so hard at listening to my mother and I discuss this. We are extremely smart women, but science is not our strong point so we have various theories that are probably all wrong! I'm glad to see the question and see some posts in response! Thanks for asking!
