TAH August - checking out my HRT options

Hi there

I'm having a TAH in August because of Endometriosis I'm 34, and both ovaries will be waving goodbye.

I need to stay off HRT for as long as I can to get any left over Endo, but am a bit concerned about menapausal symptons. I've been on Zoladex alot in the past so I sort of know what I'm likely to feel like. I took HRT while on Zoladex and felt really well on Premarin, tried some others but they didn't work so well.

My plan is to use Progesterone Cream only soon after the op to help with the symptons and then start HRT 3-6 months after the op. Should I think about using progesterone as well as Premarin (when the time comes)? I don't want to gain any weight, as that has been a problem for me in the past. My prime concern is not give any Endo the chance to grow back.

Does this sound like a good idea? Does anyone have any suggestions.

I think as long as you use a sufficient amount of natural progesterone, then you'll lessen your risks of the endo returning while on estrogen. Most likely the endo was caused by a progesterone deficiency. You may want to consider using the natural estrogens instead of Premarin, since Premarin can be very potent.
