Feeling great after TAH

I had my TAH last summer at 33. I felt like I was too young to be facing a hyst, but after 20 years of suffering why prolong the inevitable? My GYN did not want to do a hyst because of my age. He wanted to do an ablation first. I tried numerous BC pills, the Mirena IUD, a D&C , Prometrium, etc.. and nothing contolled my heavy bleeding and pain for very long. I did not want to have another procedure (the ablation) and still suffer in pain from the monthly cramping. After yet another sono with my uterus measuring even bigger than 9 mos prior...a wise Dr. pointed out that I could be suffering for another 20 yrs before menopause! NO WAY!

My Dr. was moving, so after a second opinion from my wonderful new Dr. at the same office, I was scheduled for surgery. I scheduled it 5 weeks out due to school and my son's b-day. The wait is the hardest! The first few months were kind of wierd...coming to terms with the finality of it. Now I am feeling great and don't think of it as much. I smile when I can pass the tampon and pad aisle without filling up the cart! I am glad my Dr. was willing to get me out of the misery despite my age. I wish more Drs would remember the quality of life issues and not focus on the age.

Feeling great after TAH

Hey!! I am 31 and had a TAH + Appendectomy on Monday 3-3 - adenomyosis.
I thought that I was pretty young as well, but upon finding this wonderful site, have found that "female problems" aren't age discriminitory
All that matters is that we feel better afterwards.

Hoe that all goes well with your surgeries, and that your healing is as quick and pain free as possible
