Bleeding at the 3 week mark

I noticed yesterday that my spotting has gone from a dark red to a bright red. The amount has only slightly increased. Any ideas what this may be? I did not lift anything, or overdue it. I went shopping for maybe an hour yesterday, but that was it.

Bleeding at the 3 week mark

Hi cloudnineandten
It could be stitches dissolving. Sometimes they will cause light bleeding. As long as it isn't heavy, a little bleeding on and off during recovery is considered normal. If it increases or worries you for any reason it never hurts to call your dr and ask about it, that's what they are there for.

I hope everything is ok and you continue to heal well.
's, Rita

Bleeding at the 3 week mark

I've been bleeding since one week post-op. I'd say its about 1 - 2 tablespoons every 6 hours or so. My doctor had me on bed rest for 2 days to see if it cleared - he said normally this doesn't start until 2 weeks post op so he thought I might have pulled on one of my stitches. When it didn't stop after the 2 days he asked me to "get a little active" to see if it got worse. It didn't get any worse so he concluded that it was just "normal" post op discharge (draining and dissolving stitches). When I first started bleeding the blood was a bright red, now its much more watery and pink.

Its probably totally normal but as Rita said, it never hurts to call the doctor. Mine was happy I called as he "likes to be kept apprised of what's going on".
