7 weeks post op Mini Period??

I am almost 7 weeks post op. I had a LSH kept ovaries and cervix. Last night going to the restroom I had a rush of bright red blood. I kept wiping and it was enough that would have made a mess if I had not already been in the bathroom. Since then nothing.

I was going to call the doctor but then I realized that may have been a mini period. Anyone else?

Thanks

7 weeks post op Mini Period??

Paintp

I have mini-periods but that doesn't sound like my experience of them, or what I've read from others. It's usually very light spotting, over a number of days. A one-off rush of bright red blood doesn't fit with my understanding of them ~ but that doesn't mean to say it isn't so as everyone is different!

However, I do think a call to your doctor would be very wise (especially at 7 weeks post-op) if only to put your mind at rest.

Will you let us know what you find out? Take care!

Thank you so much for your reply. I thought it was weird for such a rush. It definitely was not a spot. I think I will call just to put my mind at rest. I will post what I find out, once the doctor calls back. It always takes him so long to respond. I was hoping it was common among the women who kept their cervix.

7 weeks post op Mini Period??

Hi Paintp

I am 13 weeks post op and have had 3 mini periods. The first time I was 3 weeks post op and wasnt sure that was what it was, because at that time I had some spotting on and off, from dissolving stitches etc.

The reason i thought that this was a period was that I had some clear red blood for one day - not a huge amount, but I was wearing a pad, so it wasnt a problem. It fitted with my pre-op dates too.

It was only confirmed at 7 weeks, then again at 11. As pooodle says, it was a couple of days of light spotting, 1/2 days of clear red, then another spotting.

Checking with your doctor is a good idea. mini-periods seem to be quite rare...fingers crossed, it isnt that - just a blip for you.

take care

7 weeks post op Mini Period??

Well, I finally heard from my doctor concerning the bleeding. He basically said it was fine and it happens sometimes when the body is getting straightened out (his words). It may be a mini period and it may not, slow down and if it happens again let him know. He really acted like it was very normal for this to happen and reassured me to just take it easy.

Thanks you for all your replies and advice. It is greatly appreciated

7 weeks post op Mini Period??

i had a rush of blood and clots like that about a month after my surgery. my dr examined me and said he felt it was just leftover from surgery and shouldnt happen again. it didnt..and i dont get mini periods. that doesnt sound like one at all..they are usually spotting, sometimes so light that you only see it when wiping.
