Here is to wishing the waiting was over!!!
Hi ladies
I am in the middle of a period and feeling just downright blah! This is my second last period ever so that is the good news. I feel like I have been waiting forever. My surgery was scheduled in Early June for September 17th, 2001. I see so many ladies having their surgeries before mine and I am feeling a little down about that. I know that I am better to wait as the girls will be back in school, but I also really want this to end. I am looking so forward to getting the surgery over with and becoming the new me! As is my family and husband. September seems so far away. I also keep worrying about whether out of the blue my Endometrial Ablation is finally going to kick in, then what. Though I know that is not likely to happen. Anyway I just thought I would post for some support.I have been answering a lot of posts but not writing a ton. Also one of my best friends who has been bleeding for weeks and weeks at a time found out she has cysts on her ovaries. They are medicating her as she really wants children though she is not in a relationship. Basically she told me I was ridiculous as my situation was not near as bad as hers. I was shocked as we have been freinds since we were 18 (35 now) . I did not know we were comparing ourselves. My mom said that I have to understand her as I have two children and chose not to have more. I understand that, but I think she should be a little bit more compassionate. I would never compare lives to anyone. My life is my life. People will always have more money than me or less, better health or worse.Comparing is ridiculous. Anyway thanks for letting me vent!!! It is just one of those days
Thanks in advance , it is just one of those days

awww cathlaur...first I want to give you a big big hug...
Listen, don't let anyone tell you what is or isn't a certain way for you. Her statements just reflect her own ignorance. You are right, your situation is YOUR situation. No one can judge how you feel phsically or mentally about something having to do with you. Look how much all of our recoveries here on Hyster Sisters vary. Some of us have the exact same surgeries for the exact same problems and still have different levels of recovery. Our bodies are unique and have their own way of doing things.
I know the waiting is tough but hang in there. I found that the last part, especially the last couple of weeks flew by. Try to do things that you enjoy doing and things that will keep you occupied. The last week before my surgery we completely repainted my sons room who now has his own apartment at college and are in the process of moving my daughter out into that room. I also went through all my drawers in the house. It is funny how you start out having one junk drawer and then all the sudden, all of them are junk drawers. We went through lots of stuff we had stored in our garage and the stuff my son didn't want, we are donating to good will or the salvation army. I stayed so busy the last couple of weeks I would go to bed exhausted.
I made sure I had the stuff I wanted on hand after I got home like GasX, Stool Softener, etc. I also made sure I had some comfy stuff to wear. Even though I don't really have much of a swelly belly I find it is so much more comfortable to have something really loose fitting on. I also did things like go to the beach. My husband and I spent a whole day there at the tide pools and saw so many interesting things. I tried to stay so busy that I wouldn't really dwell on how far off everything was...or how near as I became more nervous.
Remember to post whenever you want a friendly shoulder to lean on or a listening ear. I hope the time just speeds by for you.

{{{Cath}}} First off, here's the you so badly need.
I know how hard it is to wait, and wait, and wait, and bleed, and wait: I scheduled my hyst at the end of September, registered on Hyster Sisters the day after and my hyst was on December 14th. Like you, I saw many, many register, post about their up-coming hysts, get crowned and leave for the Post-Op board, while I was still a .
While the waiting is soooo hard, it did allow me to read up on my up-coming surgery. I owe it to this fact that I was sooo calm by the time I headed for the castle. I also know that it is because I knew it was a possibility and questionned my surgeon on the issue, that I ended up with a TVH instead of with the TAH/BSO I had originally planned.
Keep on reading and posting and enjoy the summer. I know: it's hot and you're bleeding. Still, it is the summer and the last one where you have to go through periods.
Whenever you need to, check in to the Chat Room. There are other and 's in there, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Here is to wishing the waiting was over!!!
Hon I know how it is I didn't find out about surgery 3mons ago but didn't get scheduled until 2wks ago and I stil have to wait until Aug 20. I am not having the bleeding but I am in pain all of the time. I have a dermoid cyst on the left ovary that has been there for a year know. I just found out about the adhesions and my right ovary being swollen. Really nothing works for me but I take extra strenght tylenol know sometime 3x. I have been on everything else. My appetite is shameful I am afraid I am not eating enough so I force myself to eat at times when I am not hungry. Tell your friend to lay low if she is truly a friend she would see how important it is for you two to support each other. Hang in there We will get through this.

Hi cathlaur,
I am one of your Sept. sisters. Mine is scheduled for the 12th. Right now I am actually feeling like it will be here before I know it. I looked at my calender and so many things are scheduled to happen between now and then that I am hoping it will fly by. Just keep yourself as busy as possible. The hospital called me yesterday to tell me my pre-op is on Aug.30. I am looking forward to that as I have many questions for the doctor. This site has been great for helping to think of the right things to ask. Just think, we should be really well prepared for it when the time finally gets here! Hang in there my friend! Judith

Hey Judith, Nice to meet you
I got my pre op Drs appointment yesterday for September 4th and the hospital for September 5th, of course my period has subsided and is one of the shortest ones ever. My Dr said that can happen. He told me not to worry as the ablation did not really work and the uterine lining will grow back over the years and as I am only 35 it will grow back. Also I suffer from such horrible back pains and cramping, so the hysterctomy should take care of that. I guess I am just doubting myself which is easy to do. I think I have to much time to think. But you are right about getting things done. I have done way more shopping for the girls school stuff already and I got hubby to clean the carpets yesterday.I want to clean all my closets and under the sinks. Also while I am off I am going to put all the photo albums together as we have pictures everywhere.
Thanks for you reply
