Hi, I,m new at this myself. I recently found out that I needed to have one ovary & uteris removed do to chronic pain. I,ve had ovarian cyst & endometrosis. I,m scared & CONFUSED ! I'ts nice to have found a support group that relates , and others with similar problems. If I used the computer maybe this would be easier.

I've moved you here to the Pre Op forum where you'll find women who are also scheduled to have their uterus removed. Do check out our Pre Op Articles Pre Op Topics and you can sign up for the checkpoints which will send you an email as you get closer to your surgery date and afterwards also CheckPoints

When is your surgery scheduled for?

Ovary and Uterus to be removed due to Endo

Dear hopeful7,
I am having a total abdominal hysterectomy on March 28th. I have endometriosis and cysts and fibroids. The endo pain is the most aggravating, also having frequent periods for the last year or so and a month long period last month! yuck. My left ovary hurts all of the time now instead of just when I am ovulating. Can't wait to see if hyster provides relief or if it will reveal more problems. I am frightened out of my mind!!! At least you are there going thru it too

Ovary and Uterus to be removed due to Endo

Hi, and welcome. I had fibroids and a TAH back in October. I understand how disruptive the whole process is, from the first appearance of symptoms through post-surgery recovery. My best advice is to educate yourself about what'shappening to your body and what you will experience before and after surgery. In addition to this site Web M.D. is a great place for info. Understanding my condition did a lot to make me feel that I had regained the sense of control I lost when I found out about the tumor. Without that I think I would have been totally cowed about my situation.

I can say that my life is much better now that I don't have to worry about fibroids, never-ending periods, cramps, an enlarged uterus, and all the other things we have to go through before surgery. Recovery went much better than I expected. You are on your way to feeling good again, so hang in there! This will all work out no matter how it seems right now.

Ovary and Uterus to be removed due to Endo

Hello Celtic Tigress,
Thanks for the info, I am doing as much research as possible without scaring myself by matching my symptoms with so many cancers. I don't believe in chemo, so if I do have something bad, it will have to take its course. I am frightened beyond words at times and have to have faith that God is in control of all things and trust in His infinite wisdom of life. I take heart in knowing no obvious tumors are showing yet and that I have a cyst that pops in and out on ultrasounds and MRI's. That is what I am clinging to at this point. Let us all hope for the best! I know I must be on my way to feeling better since I have been feeling like crap for a while with having so many periods. Glad you are ok now, did you have much luck with balancing your hormones after the surgery? Thanks a million.! women power!

I'm not on HRT so my system has been more than a little crazy. Now, though, I'm 5 months out from surgery and it is starting to settle down. I'm less emotional, having fewer hot flashes, and my insomnia is letting up, or at least I don't feel so exhausted in the morning. I've read freqeuntly that 6 months after surgery is the earliest most women can hope to feel "normal", and believe me, I'm awaiting April 12th anxiously. But I am getting better every day.

Hiya!

I just had mine done on Match 11th! I know you may be scared, but I know this was the very best thing I could do for myself.

I'm surious... Has your doc mentioned adenomyosis yet? My pathology turned up with it - which really helped us to explain the extreme pain I was in. Do you know yet if your uterus is large?

Take care and best of luck to you!
