Oestrogen OK so why do I feel awful?

Hia

I had my hysterectomy 4/5 years ago .. have been on various different forms of HRT, the latest an 'implant' .. this should make me feel better, more stable levels of oestrogen etc., right ??

I have been getting increasingly more and more anxiety attacks, more ezcema is really bad, I'm suffering from headaches galore and my breasts are so sore and lactating too (I can't even run up the stairs, without having to hold them). So I took a trip to the Dr, who tested my oestrogen levels - the result 'a little low' if anything for my age but they are happy with them but they really don't know what's a matter ..

I am having more hormone tests tomorrow, but I was wondering has anybody encountered such a problem before ?

Thanks

Hi Toni Are your implants estrogen only? Some of the symptoms you mention sound like they are from low estrogen and some sound like estrogen dominance. This is possible, if your levels of progesterone and testosterone are lower (proportionally) than your level of estradiol.

I'm hoping that tomorrow they will be not just checking your estrogen levels, but also progesterone and free and total testosterone. While they're at it, it would be great if they could also do a thyroid panel, since it's pretty common for the thyroid to have problems a while after this surgery.

Will your DR let you try progesterone to see if it helps with the breast issues?

Oestrogen OK so why do I feel awful?

Thanks Linda

It is oestrogen only, as in the UK they are very very unwilling to give you any other hormone after your uterus has been taken ...

I will find out what tests they are doing in an hour... what concerns me is that the Dr was completely flumexed, and didn't know what was wrong with me ... I feel like an alien gone wrong !

Thanks again

OK - I feel well and truly like this isn't me at all ...

Just spoke to the Drs and test results are thus:
Prolactin = Normal, Thyroid = Normal, FBC = Normal ...

So why am I still feeling hot still lacting, have boobs the size of watermelons, cannot run (it hurts too much) and way too anxious (my heart is postively going to burst) my weight is going up and up and up .... and I have eczema and headaches galore ... I feel like I'v given birth with nothing to show for it ....

I have now been referred to an endocrinologist to look in more detail, exactly what is going on with my hormones .... I hope they find somethign soon before I implode ...
