Vertigo ?

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this but I figured I'd start here. I had my total hysterectomy on January 16 due to endo. When I left the hospital they gave me a shot of Lupron for progesterone. Can't have estrogen for about 6 months. Since my surgery I have had horrible vertigo - to the point that I am missing work and unable to leave my house when it's really bad. I've been to the neurologist and had an MRI, which came back normal. They are stumped to the cause of the vertigo. I think it could be caused by hormones - or lack of hormones. Has anyone heard of this? I am desperate to figure out what to do next as I need my life back. I'm not pleased with my gyn and want to find someone who specializes in HRT but I haven't been able to find anyone in my area yet. Of course once I get on the computer the vertigo kicks in - like now - and I have to get off. I'd appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thanks.

Vertigo ?

Hi Vertigo is a known side effect of Lupron:

http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/lupron-depot_ad.htm

It occurs more often in women who have had their ovaries removed than in women who keep their ovaries, though both groups can have it.

Just wanted to clarify here that Lupron isn't progesterone - it's a strong progestin medication often used to keep endo from returning. I hope it works for you!

Do talk with your DR about the vertigo, though, OK?

s,
-Linda

Vertigo ?

I also experienced vertigo after my hsyt. I did some research and found some links to hormones shifts. At least you have ruled out big bad stuff with your tests. Have you seen an ear nose throat doctor? They can do different tests on your inner ear which is what causes vertigo. Also, try to increase your fluids. Good luck
