Okay...another gross BM Question

Hi, all.....

I know this is really gross but I really need some suggestions.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get that area clean? I have tons of stitiches down there and I'm already using the wet wipes but it really hurts and then the stitches start to bleed. I'm worried about infection if I don't get the area totally clean.

Sorry for the the info.....but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Blessings,

The squirt bottle definitely works. You are able to give it enough pressure to clean yourself. And it won't hurt you and most likely won't irritate the stitches because it isn't a wiping motion or as much pressure as the hand. Good luck hon, doesn't sound fun

Yep....done that but I'm still not getting completely clean. :-(

I wish I had a bidet.....that would work, I think. ;-)

it would work! then you may have to step in the tub and do it, which would be such a pain BUT in your case, would be soothing. wear shorts & flip flops! eek, you're in virginia .. then it's cold!

Have you tried one of those sitz bath thingies? When I had surgery for a rectal abscess, they gave me one of those to use after every BM. It was very soothing. You can find one at a medical supply place or maybe your dr can give you one.

Ask your doctor if you are allowed to put something petroleum jelly or destin diaper cream on after BM's then next time around the area would wipe clean really easy, be nice and clean with minimal pressure and reapply.

If they say it's okay maybe at least maybe for a couple days it keeps everything off of the skin and stitches. I had a really bad epesiotomy with my son 14 years ago ...all the way through and ended up having a extremely bad infection that nothing could even touch that area without being excrutiatingly painful.

I don't know why but due to the type of surgery I had I'm not allowed to do sitz baths. My mom just went to the store for me to see if she can find a better squirt bottle than what I have.

:-( My hiney hurts :-(

Ahhhh....I do remember reading somewhere about the Desitin. (Off to raid my neices little supply cabinet we keep here!)

This is all the result of three vaginal births: 12 lbs. 12 oz., 10 lbs. 12 oz., and 11 lbs. 4 oz. Shoulder dystocia for all three of them. Three.....count them.....three.....fourth degree lacerations straight through front to back. I lost all muscle tone so it HAD to be fixed.

Navy medicine has come a long way in 22 years.......it's unbeleivable the level of care I am getting right now. Maybe they should have done C-sections on these kids and then I wouldn't be going through all of this now!

But like I said the level of care I'm received now cannot be compared to anything I have ever had before.....my UroGyn emails me every night and her GYN Resident emails me every day. My UroGyn is out of town next week and has told me no matter what her resident will take any calls from me. If anything happens during office hours.....no appointment necessary...just walk on in. She said if I go to the ER, I have to call the resident first who will meet me there.

Wow.....I'm rambling......Percocet must have kicked in @@
