"Nicked" bladder during LAVH

Has this ever happened to anymore? I am now in hospital a few days long, have to wear a catheder
(SP) for TWO FULL WEEKS. The urologist on call came in and told me to day he was worried I was not going to make it last night. I have had a total of 6 units of blood so far. Just wondered in this was common.

Harmony, I am so sorry to hear about your complication! I don't think it is common, but know others who had problems during surgery and recovery. I pray for a complete healing and quick recovery.

So sorry to hear this happened to you. It's not common, but there are others here who have had their bladders nicked during surgery. And there are many of us who've had to wear a catheter home for a while - for me it was a week.

I hope the nick heals nicely on its own with no further treatment needed other than the catheter.

-Linda

Yes, it happened to me on Monday. I think it was the ureter tube that got knicked during vaginal cuff stitching. I had to have a second surgery to place a stent in the tube and will have a 3rd surgery in 6 weeks or so to remove it.

I don't have a catheter, but I do have lots of blood in my urine that I have to watch for. I'm very afraid of anemia so I'm starting on a multivitamin today.

I have felt for the past couple of days a lot of regret. My doc says it's normal and after I'm feeling better, I'll be glad I went ahead and took care of the problem now rather than later.

I'm very disapointed about having to have yet another surgery even though it's supposed to be a "day surgery".

I hope you feel better and heal well.
