Ovarian cysts
Hi girls!
Haven't posted for awhile so I hope all is well! I wrote awhile back about some lower pelvic pain I was having. I was diagnosed in January with a letf ovarian cyst. My gyn just wanted to watch it because I've had cysts before that resolved on their own on that side. Well, to make a long story short, not this one! I went back for a repeat ultrasound 2 weeks ago because of increased sudden pain on that side. My cyst had grown to 3x the size it was, was now hemorrhaging, and was twisting upon itself! She had me come in the next day and I had surgery to remove my left ovary last Tuesday. Thankfully it was laproscopic surgery and I should be back on my feet in a few days. Just a word to everyone, don't let the doctors dismiss your pain or discomfort. Even my gyn was surprised that it had grown so much and changed so quickly. It wasn't that she dismissed my discomfort but seemed like she was downplaying it a bit until she got my test results. Just again proof that you really have to advocate for yourself. I'm still waiting for the pathology reports..but she didn't seem to think anything looked suspicious for cancer. Hopefully this is the last surgery for me. She was able to leave my right ovary which is good. Anyway just wanted to give an update and say hope that everyone is well!!

Ovarian cysts
Wilpn! glad they found it. my 19 yr-old daughter called me from college last week and she was in pain in the right side and nauseous. I thought "appendix" so I sent her to her doctor there. doctor did a CT scan and they found that her right ovary had a cyst that burst. my poor baby ... she's starting to feel better but still nauseous. we're waiting for lab work from her doc's office which she should get today. now that you mentioned surgery, EEK! I hope she doesn't have to have anything being that she's so far away at college ...

Ovarian cysts
Hi daxlou,
I've had cysts that burst before that didn't require surgery. This one had grown to a point, was hemmorhaging and had caused the ovary to twist cutting off the blood supply which is why they did the surgery. I don't think that ususally happens though. Ovarian cysts especially when they rupture, can cause alot of pain. It's ironic, because "appendicitis" is what the Dr. originally thought that I had with referred pain to the left side. Hopefully your daughters' will resolve on its own without any further problems. I also know that I had nausea several days after. Tell her to hang in there and I'll keep you both in my prayers.

Nausea ALWAYS accompanies my cysts and when they burst lots of pain and nausea for a few days and then Ill feel great until the next one. My first cyst sent me to the hospital with them all sure it was appendicitis. We know our bodies better than some doctor that sees hundreds of bodies a week. You really think they would listen to their patients a little more. Im glad they found your cyst and the problems early on to prevent any further problems.

I have no pain from the cysts on the only ovary I have left but the nerve damage from my hysterectomy on the right side where I have had my ovary removed and such. Can they be deadly?

Here is a VERY interesting article outlining all of the types of cysts.
http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Ovaria...ence&id=455712
Actual cysts that rupture are seldom deadly. But some can have infection like the infection in an appendix and then it can become deadly, but then again that is rare according to the article.
Seems like so many of us are going back in to finish the job in the next coupel weeks, it must be springtime for cysts. Good luck one and all!
