2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.

9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

What wonderful scriptures!!

Philippians 4:6-7 : I have always LOVED these verses! I get anxiety-ridden too often and this is always the scripture that pops in my mind when I pray about it. What a wonderful reminder that I (we) do not have to suffer worrying about things b/c God is in control always. He calms my heart, my mind and my soul.

2 Corinthians 12:9

Paul had some sort of affliction – God did not remove that affliction from Paul but He did promise to demonstrate His power in Paul. God used Paul in wonder ways. God can use weak and ill people, which should encourage us. As humans we have limitations but if we turn to God and rely on Him many anything is possible. We cannot rely on ourselves – our talent, our own energy, wealth, etc. Our weakness can actually bring us closer to God because often we come to the end of ourselves and have nowhere else to turn but to the cross.

Philippians 4:6-7

We are clearly being told not to be anxious and not to worry. Worry less, pray more. Pray with a grateful heart. The peace God provides is an inner peace. The world around us can be in chaos but God is still in control – to me that instills peace. God will have the ultimate victory and that comforts me. When I find myself getting anxious I try to remind myself that God has already won the battle. I am not home yet and while I am still in this temporary place God will protect heart, soul, and mind.

These are powerful verses to read often. I find they give us hope and trust in the Lord when things don't go smoothly in our lives and we are down.

We are reminded that God is with us, takes care of us, and knows what we need.
