Help with getting the right HRT pill or patch?
Hi Everyone:
I have been using the viville dot o.1 since probably September. It has been working fine, I just hate it. It moves around, starts coming off and gets full of lint. I wear black pants a lot and it always has a black lint ring. I went to the doctors last week and asked her if we could try some other HRT and see how they work and she wanted me to try Enjuva. Well, I have been doing research and several sites have said that there is animal hormones in it. That most of it is plant based but that there is some animal hormones in it. I specifically asked her to not be on any type of HRT that was animal based. So I don't know what to do. I still have my patches so I will continue to use them. But if any of you have any suggestions to say to her regarding any other's that are not animal hormones I would appreciate it.
This HRT tweaking is tough and I hope to get it right sometime soon. I would love to have a sleep filled night!!!
Thanks for any help. I have been wanted to try to bio-identical HRT but can't seem to find a doc around this way so while I'm searching I hope that some of you may have some suggestions for me.

Help with getting the right HRT pill or patch?
Hi Zelda Where did you see that Enjuvia has animal-derived ingredients? My understanding is that, like Cenestin, Enjuvia is a plant-based HRT product:
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/69405.php
http://www.docguide.com/news/content...256C480054099A
What makes Enjuvia unique is that they were supposedly able to make all of the molecules that are considered active ingredients in Premarin from plant sources.
That said, I personally love the Vivelle-dot and prefer to stay with transdermals because they avoid putting too much stress on my liver. My solution to the black ring is to wear microfiber panties... they don't seem to leave the ring the way cotton ones do. Also, if you prefer cotton, if you wear a nude color, you won't get that black ring.

-Linda

Help with getting the right HRT pill or patch?
Hi Linda:
I am a part time pharmacy tech and reviewing the makeup of the medication I saw that it had several different forms of equilin in it which is made from pregnant mare hormones. I then went on line to a few websites and found that information there when I was checking to make sure that it was correct. So I will be staying with my vivielle patch for right now and I am going to continue my search for Bioidentical hormone doctor.
Thanks for the advice regarding the black ring. I will try it. I do wear alot of nude or beige panties but my pants are all dark colored so I do still get the ring. But I will try your suggestion.
Thanks,
Andrea (aka Zelda Bean)

(((Andrea))) It is true that it has equilin in it, but they synthesize the equilin from plant sources rather than isolating it from horse urine. Same molecule, different source, that's all.
Are you making sure your patch is below the top band of your panties? I wear mine on the rear, where the jeans pockets would be, or sometimes over to the side a bit on the hip. I only get the ring when I wear dark panties that aren't microfiber. I agree, though, when I do get it I don't like how it looks - I just avoid looking back there.

-Linda

Help with getting the right HRT pill or patch?
My situtation might be different medication (estrogel), but I was offered pill, patch or gel. I too did not want the pills and my skin is so sensitive that the patch seemed like a very bad idea. I do not mind the gel at all. I put it on in a m right after I wake up and I'm done for the day. I do not know if your medications comes in gel. Its been a great solution for me. Granted, outside of popping a pill the alternatives require a bit more adjustment in lifestyle. I was annoyed at first, but the results have been so good for me, that the extra little planning in the day is a small price to pay.
Good luck.

Help with getting the right HRT pill or patch?
Thanks so much. I am armed with some new information and made an appointment to see my doctor next week so we can discuss all different types of methods and try and decide which would work for me that I might like better than what I'm using.
Thanks for all of your help!!

Help with getting the right HRT pill or patch?
I solved the problem of the vivelle dot slipping around simply by cleaning the skin with alcohol prior to application, then drying with a hair dryer. I also use the hair dryer to "set" the glue on the edges of the dot. This way, it seldome moves around even when I sweat (which I do frequently running or some other way). Also, the alcohol takes off the previous "ring" left by the cloth fibers that get stuck around the dot.
If you find the perfect HRT, PLEASE let us know!
