Does anyone know the answer to this?? Did your doctor provide you with the report from surgery or did you have to contact the hospital. It sounds like some of you have gotten these.
I would like to know what happened in the OR. Six years ago I was told that I had an ovary removed during abdominal surgery for a ruptured fallopian tube. Turns out it was not the case. My current doc showed me pictures of both ovaries when she did my tubal last year.
I am thinking with having the hyster this might not be a bad idea to keep with my personal copies of my medical records.

Great question! I requested mine before I left the hospital and I picked it up a week later along with the PATHOLOGY report. It is great to have and I think every woman should aquire her own reports for her own records.
At this point call your OB/GYN and ask for them to make you a copy. They can mail it or you can pick it up in their office.

I agree... you doctor should have one... maybe you could get it from them for free... I had my doctor give me both the path reports and the surgery report... Doesn't hurt to ask. My company changes insurance so often, I have gotten in the habit of getting and keeping my own records... don't want to have to chase all over if I ever need them.

I called my doctor who provided the pathology report, surgical report and 2 photos. They were ready about a week after surgery but I waited until my 4 wk post op to get them. The pathology report was 2 pages, surgical report was 4 pages.

Hi Nicole,
I had my TAH on the same date as you (March 13/08). My surgeon provided me with the Pre-Op Notes and Operative Report at the same time as he filled out the Short-Term Disability Form required for my insurance company. I didn't get the pathology report however. I have my first follow-up appt next week (Apr. 1/08). I think I will ask for it now that I've seen some of the answers from other systers. You too should ask for these reports I think.

I wanted to add that I've started to get copies of ALL my medical reports from all my doctors. When I get them home I scan them into my PC so that I have an electronic backup which is easily transported.
This is something I've been doing with my dog for quite awhile - figured it was about time that I had my own medical records in as good a shape as hers are !

Your GYN/Surgeon will give them to you free if you ask IN THEIR office.
I had the same issue and now know that if I go directly to the office of the doctor, it is free.
Patient courtesy.
Oh yeah (glad that edit is there. I hate flood control),
I also have my own medical records. I ask, sorry demand. It is my right. They get paid for the services from my insurance, I don't believe in paying for a copy of a surgical report. Didn't they get enough when they billed for the surgery itself...?
