causes for thyroid problems

I wonder if lack and whacked out hormones help to cause thyroid issues? I suffered for many years with PMS and then a bad cause of Peri Menopause and didn't even know it until I got proactive with my treatment for the medical problems I was having over and over again they all started out of the blue. My Dr dismissed them for years. Anyone have any info on this? I am doing Google searches but have no web sites that mention the hormone/thyroid link.

I found out a few years ago that thyroid issues run in my family, both my grandmother and my aunt had problems which started when they were going thru menopause. I too now have thyroid problems, which started after my tah/bso. So yes, menopause can have an effect on your thyroid.
